Any Ideas on the cause of the fire??

    From RTE news
An investigation is under way after an out of service Dublin Bus went on fire this afternoon.

The incident happened just after 1pm in the Harold's Cross area.

The driver was uninjured in the incident and there were no passengers on board at the time.

The fire brigade was called to the scene and the blaze was extinguished.

Here is a picture of AV 211 I took in happier times with some Abercrombie models waving at it!

It is a bus I have few shots of and now the chance for more is probably gone.

Looks like one of the hibernating ex-Summerhill AV's in Harristown will be pressed back into service

The indo makes it somewhat more dramatic: shocking scenes, stunned on lookers, unbelievable damage... lol talk about OTT

They have AV109, AV111-AV113..hopefully it's AV113. AV109 is in bits. AV110 might move this time from Donnybrook.

Wonder what happened to the engine fire suppression system ? Did it stop the fire from being worse ? Did it work at all ? If not why not ? How much did it cost ? Any comeback on the manufacturer if the system failed ?

AV115 was put back on the road in Harristown a few weeks ago also, driven it on a few occasions since - they're a little rough around the edges but better than not running a departure.

From what I'm told the fire suppression system will only hold back a fire to allow evacuation of the bus, it may extinguish a minor fire/smouldering but will never cope with a full scale fire. It'll be interesting to see the outcome of the investigation.
