What is your dream car?

What car, if any (or even any other kind of vehicle) would you pick if you were given a free choice of a free vehicle

The only condition is that you have to be able to afford to run it in the first place and something you wouldn't be afraid to park in public (like Bugatti Veyron).

    I'd choose a Mercedez C Class or Audi A 8.

They cost a bomb brand new, but with my salary, I'd be ok to afford tax and insurance and fuel.

    What about you?

Very very hard to say as it changes very often. Sometimes several times a day :p. I never change my mind about the ultimate car though :cool:

The Ultimate would be a Miura but is more than lightly never going to happen :( (there is a small chance :pac::pac:)

    lamborghini-miura-07.jpg

For toady the realistic dream car is a Jaguar XJR :cool:

A realistic car I might own one day; Audi S3 Sportback saloon

    Fantasy car, Lamborghini Diablo.

Tesla Model S. You could afford to run that on the dole

The v6 in the 159/brera/946 was the biggest let down for an alfa fan :(
sorry but I hate that engine so much.

my dream car changes all the time, however I want to keep it realistic as opposed to a lotto win to buy it.
In that case it'd be one of a E31 850csi, a Lancia Delta integrale Evo, or an Alfa sz.
My biggest problem when it comes to buying something of value is I always take into account the opportunity cost. For the price of an sz, i could get a lower model 850 and integrale. I love all three for very different reasons, so it'd be hard to choose between three. :(Alfa_SZ_AutoItalia_Brooklands_May_2012_THP_7123.jpg

Soooo much stuff I'd love to have that I can afford to run.... I guess pick of the bunch would have to be a Consul GT/Granada mk1

I'm not sure whether the Lotus Exige S counts as a realistic, or a fantasy, dream car. It's probably not beyond the realms of possibility in fairness though.

1978 3 litre turbo ford capri pure muscle car. No car on the road can sound and look as nice. Soon to be my dream car. Only a few quid away from obtaining my import. Will tweak it up and make it a beast and a car to be turning heads before they even see it because you will hear it before you see it with its roaring v8.

My realistic dream car and one which I am adamant to own is the BMW E39 M5:

There's an rz lurking in ireland. Same chap has a gta and apparently a few other "interesting" alfas. I'd buy one of them as opposed to a new 30k car any day! Use what you save in depreciation to go towards the running.

I would imagine the running costs to be quite high for maybe 3000km a year but if there was ever an investment that would only go up, it has to be this car with a bit of TLC. There are some horrifically molested ones online which really is a shame since there was only just over a thousand built.

Realistically, an Alfa 4C - lightweight 1.8 turbo, definitely not a money black hole when it comes to fuel and tax; Insurance I don't know...Irish companies start screaming as soon as they spot the word "turbo" anywhere.

Going classic, an Alfa 75 Turbo Evoluzione (shame about the paintjob though) or a Giulia Sprint GTA.

If it was a normal, anything goes dream car thread I would be saying a Ferrari F40, but since I have to be realistic I'm actually struggling to come up with one!

First thought was a BMW e46 M3 CSL...as amazing a car as it is I think I'd need to step away from the e46 platform. Maybe an M6 V10...it's a fugly enough car i know, but dat V10, and although I really like the e60 M5 I'd just want something a bit different. I'd probably have to get a crazy exhaust so I sounded like a V10 F1 car though!

I'd love a 3 rotor FC Rx-7. One that wasn't used for drifting. Currently have an Rx-8 but it's not getting the mileage I'd likedue to work. I refuse to use it due to all the stop start short distance runs I do :( Would love to throw another rotor into her!

I don't dream about cars but if I were getting one for free this would be my choice.

    2013-Lamborghini-Veneno-on-the-road-480.jpg

    Worth $4.5m I'd flog it for a bargain at $4m :)

Ultimate dream car is a Porsche 959 or a F40, potentially achievable but it would need a tow hitch for the caravan as I'd be homeless ;).

Being realistic the following cars are on the bucket list, nothing happening until 2016-7 due to various commitments but after that I'll tick each one of them off. I've owned a 911 and an Esprit along with a couple of other fast cars in the past so I'm well aware of running costs etc. that are associated with cars in that category, but these are all easily achievable considering my wages, expenses etc.

    Ferrari 308/328 GTS (possible keeper)
    Mercedes W126 Coupe
    Mercedes R129 500SL
    Lancia Delta Integrale
    Porsche 944 or 968 CS
    Porsche 928 S4 or later
    TVR 350i or 420i
    Catherham (self build)
    Bentley Turbo R
    Lotus Esprit V8
    Audi RS2
    Lotus Omega
    BMW M3 E30 and E46
    BMW E28 M5 or M535i
BMW E34 M5 Touring (possibly keep this)
Ultima GTR (possibly self build and long term keeper)
    Alpine GTA
    Nissan GTR

Most of the above can be got for less than €30,000 in good condition, they are pretty much all classics or thereabouts, so I don't expect depreciation to be too heavy on them, some will even rise in price while I own them. I've usually had two cars on the go all the time and probably wouldn't hold onto a car for much more than 6 months which may make them awkward to sell.

Anyway that's the plan....... like they say, you only live once. :)

You'd still be looking at north of €100,000 to land one in Ireland. And tbh i would see it more as a novelty or a toy. Hence lotto car, I would never spend my own hard earned money on one

1960 Rover P4 in two-tone grey and black and with blue leather. Nothing would make me more happy waking up to this every morning. Theres just something about a grand big British saloon with suicide doors and a bench seat that I love. And this is my sensible classic daily driver option :pac:
    4758492.jpg

Failing that though, I'd have an A8 in this exact colour with tan leather. Quattro 3.7. They're fricking lovely.
    4680143.jpg

If money wasn't an issue I'd have a fleet of modern Rollers and Bentleys among a sea of classic British cars.
