Same but I ended up writing about a fire on my holiday and said I'd had to spend my whole holiday in the hospital. Does anybody know how many marks I'm going to lose.

You should've been prepared, Just make sure you do well in Paper 2 and you'll be grand.

Well obviously that's not very helpful :L our teacher only prepared those stories with us and told us we could always squeeze it into something.. But turns out we can not

Anyways I managed to wangle one when you were playing music in your school into it. I also did a match for the first one.

Brilliant paper !!!! Listening, comprehension and grammar part were amazing, I wrote about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West coming to my school, he got hit in the face with a football, and she fell off the plane... Hope the examiner likes it and sees the funny side!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 336 ✭✭smiles_1998

Did anyone else think that the last question on the first comprehension (the conprehension about the hobbit) was a bit vague? It was the question about why the manager of the shop was happy with the night.

It was, but all you had to do was go to the end of the second paragraph and quote what he said.

I did the greanmhar one, I wrote about playing a funny joke on my teacher on April Fool's Day which led to me getting suspended and sent home, and on the way home a car crashed into my bike and I went to the ospidéal. At least it was fairly long...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 311 ✭✭Msrebeckyxo

Listening was okay, comprehensions were okayyy, Trialacha teanga was a bit of a fail for me but my story was decent! Said the principal got hit by a ball and went unconscious and we all laughed at him :P

Yeah I did that...I eventually copped what I was meant to do about five minutes before the end! My essay was about how my class played a trick on the teacher by turning the tables the wrong way around and not talking to him...not very funny but watevs :L

All I can think about reading that, is the song "We didn't start the fire"

The topic is 10 and the gaeilge is 40 and if you're off topic (like in the letter) your gaielge is reduced so...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭TheEdgeofGlory

Wrote a sceal about my friend tricking me into believing there was a disco at school and following that my other friend got shot by a tall man and was taken to hospital and then that friend had surgery etc and it was all over the news and the man got sent to prison and then my friend confessed that she was kidding me towards the end! My Irish was near perfect and I used a sheanfhocal and I wrote lots of descriptive sentences( 2 pages), but I'm so worried now!

I'd say it's fine :) I am screwed for paper 2 if happiness or something like that comes up in the studied sections!

I misread the title, it was supposed to be an essay beginning with 'my manager called me from the sideline' but I didn't know what sideline meant so I said that my manager called me from the sideline and said come to the pitch in ten minutes I need to talk to you about something and then the rest was fine (car crash on the way to the pitch) but I'm wondering will I lose many marks for the fact that it doesn't make sense?:(

tbh the fire may have been off topic but better than doing a stupid essay with basic irish ya sir you would get the 8 marks but not the irish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 119 ✭✭pizzamad

    what do you mean?

Im not sure how much but for example in the letter its 10 for abhair and 17 for gaeilge and 3 for oayout...so just say you leave out a point (2 marks in abahar)....you're abhair is 8/10 and gailge is a max 14 ... so on the letter everyone point you leave out three gailge marks are deducted!

so if my essay was really good but off topic (I did fire in the school and it was meant to be funny but it wasn't) how much marks could I get 30/50?
