Thats cheap. If only it was a king size ..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,901 ✭✭✭Twilightning

Seems like a good deal, especially considering how much it was before the reduction. Says the delivery is within 20 days though? I've never actually ordered something from Argos before and had it delivered, are they fast or what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 119 ✭✭MICHAELO_4921

ordered one it will be delivered to Dublin on 21st June, so a bit over 20 days.

That why I bought it instore, they cant cancel you order like online if it is not noticed at the till before you pay which it was not. Just need to look for the right kind of staff member, if you know what I mean ;);)

I was just reading the description again. Are the highlighted sentences not mutually exclusive !!

    Mattress:

    Firm feel.
Open coil mattress with 288 springs.
Damask cover with micro quilt finish.
    Mattress depth 18cm.
    No-turn mattress.
    Rotate mattress regularly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,260 ✭✭✭Rucking_Fetard

    No-turn mattress.
    Rotate mattress regularly.

Put the head down at the bottom without turning...i guess.

    Usually a memory foam thing.

This is exactly the kinda bargain I've been waiting for and I've missed it ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭Twiggy69

Called into Nutgrove to purchase in person. I was told that they were out of stock in the warehouse and that there was no guarantee that they would be getting more stock of this item, at this price. As a result, they would not take a payment for an item that is not in stock, so it was a wasted journey :-(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 198 ✭✭mark13

Any chance of this coming back in stock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 321 ✭✭Little A

    Michaelo,

Huge thanks, I managed to get this offer on the day you posted but I was holding my breadth in case they cancelled but I now have delivery confirmation and managed to order the headboard with 20% off and delivery included with the rest. So base, mattress, headboard & delivery for €284!!

And for once it was a bargain alert I really needed.

I got it at €208 also, e-mail confirmation straight away too. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,246 ✭✭✭iwantmydinner

Just ordered one, got this email straight away:

"Thanks for shopping at Argos.ie on Wednesday 4 June 2014. We've sent you this email as an acknowledgement of your order, which we'll now check."

Fairly certain that's not a confirmation, would I be right in that? Fingers crossed I get a confirmation soon if not...

Got the same mail. It also says further down in the mail under the total cost "This amount has been charged to your card" so I would take that as confirmation?

These are one of those "special" argos items which are made to order for argos and are worth just about what you pay for them! They are cheap and are usually never genuinely for sale at the previous price given by Argos.

For the King size bed which is advertised as being about one third of the normal price it also states
Please note item 1584295 has previously been on sale at €416.49.

This €416.49 is about the value of the bed which makes it a very cheap bed, You get what you pay for with Argos and the rest of the UK chain stores!

Going by the description this bed would never command a price of €1225 or even half that!

It's good value for me (and the person I'm ordering it for) because it's infinitely better then what it'll be replacing.

Wouldn't necessarily be good value for someone with higher standards than that!

    heres a genuine question.

why would you buy a bed without testing it out first? considering you spend 8 hours a night in the bed and a uncomfortable nights sleep can really mess you up, why take a chance, especially as Argos are known for their poor quality furniture.

Reviews appear to be disabled on the Irish site but some mixed reviews on UK site - see below

Not happy even with sales price , never mind full price -

I'd say these are average quality

Anyone know if the divan would come in a single piece or in 2 pieces? I wouldn't mind getting this for a spare room but I've a 180degree turn in my stairs so it may be difficult to get upstairs if the base is 1 piece.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,014 ✭✭✭Soarer

Ordered one for the spare room. Has to be worth €200 for that.

From the picture looks like it's 2 pieces (but a bit hard to see) I got similar bed couple of years ago and that divan was in 2 parts. You should be able to organize to send it back if it doesn't fit or maybe don't accept delivery, you would be better asking them on 1800 535091

    From the UK site.

"Thank you for your query about the base unit for this bed. Having looked into this matter for you, I can confirm that the bed base is made up of two sections."
