I've been contacted by a CEO from a start-up in Hong Kong and he said he'd like me to send my CV on to his CTO but I want to contact somebody who has worked with him already. He's CCed myself with another fellow Irish man whom I've yet to speak to. I just want to find out from him what Hong Kong was like, the company et al.

I was wondering has anybody else started their IT Career in another country especially Asia? How did you fare? Would you have done better back in Ireland? What did you learn differently from others who stayed in Ireland (in a similar role)?

You are entry level and were contacted out of the blue from someone in HK? That is really... weird. Is the company googleable? Did the email originate from a legit domain?

Well he contacted me through http://www.kopra.org/

The company is googleable. The email was sent via Kopra. I spoke to a previous employee but considering the money, I'd look around here or UK:
"Hong Kong was incredible and I miss it out there but It's difficult if your not making decent money, cause it's very expensive, at the time I was with ??? they were not paying me decent money. I felt Simon is a decent bloke and easy to work with but very much into keeping cost down which sometimes was frustrating. Definitely good experience but depends where you are in your career.."
