As the question suggests is it poosible to add a name to a bank account or do you need to start from scatch and set up a joint bank account in both names?

We both have bank accounts in seperate banks and would like it all coming from the one account as its becoming a nightmare logistically.

No, you can't "add" a name. You would be looking at opening a new joint account.

You can usually get an additional credit card on the same account but for a bank account they wouldn't add a name so they probably wouldn't issue an additional debit card unless you opened a joint account.

You can add yourself on to an account as a joint account and ask to order a card in your own name. OR you can add yourself to each other's account as a third party.

    100% sure-fact.

We're with Ulsterbank, and managed to add my name to my husband's account and get an additional debit card. It does involve turning the account into a joint account, which is some paperwork but not too much hassle.

Possibly give your branch a call? It might depend on the bank and type of account.

Yes with Ulster Bank you can convert an account from personal to joint. Some paperwork alright, but it saves the hassle of having a new account number etc..
