Whey protein- actual benefits?

    I've been doing alot of reading on whey protein and its supposed benefits online, and I've found very differing accounts of how actually beneficial it is. Can anyone here categorically say that they notice the 'benefits' of whey personally in their own routines? Or is there a sort of placebo effect to it?

    It's just protein. Any effects I notice related to it are from the impact it has on the overall ratios of my weekly diet.

    Whey protein is just easy protein,

    It's a convenient way of getting a chicken breast worth of protein into you in 10 seconds.

    It's not magic, nor does it ever claim to be.

    You found accounts that state protein isn't that beneficial? What exactly did you read?

    You found accounts that state protein isn't that beneficial? What exactly did you read?

    I'd imagine it stated that it's not beneficial in a diet already high in protein.

    I've had people ask me "would you be on the protein and that kind of stuff now?"
    People find it hard to get their head around the fact it's just food.
    They look at it as some kind of anabolic steroid

    I worked in sports nutrition industry in mid 00s & we sold a lot of whey into Japan. There it was viewed as not for body builders, sports enthusiasts but as a holistic supplement. From memory it is the most biological available protein (easily digested) & is the main protein component of human milk.

    Like any supplement, if you believe it works, it works. I take it every morning in my porridge & is the reason why I am 10ft tall & fart lightening bolts!
