    Howdy folks,

I haven't played any form of fantasy football in a few years but I want to get involved again this season coming.

Just wondering if the official FPL game is still the most popular? And what's this "Ultimate FPL" thingy I've heard about?

    Thanks in advance!

Official game is what most of us (and the rest of the country I'd reckon) play. There were over 3 million teams in it last year so yeah it's pretty popular.

And can anyone shed any light on this Ultimate version? I gather it's pay to play, and there will be some rule differences to original FPL, but after that I know nothing about it.

Yea its pay to play and the rules are different. I entered the beta version but lost interest after a week. It takes up more of your time as you can change your team during the gameweek. There's a thread on it here:

Its much much more interesting in my opinion. You have a squad of 25 from which you pick a match day squad of 18 and then you can change your starting 11 & captain after the deadline so you want to be starting with all your Saturday players then switching then out for players playing Sunday/Monday if they don't perform. You have transfer windows which are basically a wildcard between those windows you can make emergency loans which cost 4 points for the first week and 2 points for each week there after but you have to cancel loans before making new ones. If you are looking to play a game that takes more time and needs a lot more imput then UFPL is probably the game for you if you want a game where you only need to log in once a week and make a couple of changes then FPL is probably the better bet.
