Serious but unpleasant question - i am a regular runner but have noticed when I come back there is always a lot of EWCM (discharge) in my underwear and I am wondering is this normal or has anyone else experienced this?

It's normal. It varies from person to person but yeah, nothing to worry about! The function (one of them anyway) of discharge is lubrication. Exercise, particularly running, causes friction down there and therefore more discharge is produced to compensate and keep you comfortable.
