Haha can't believe some people hate poetry so much ;)

You must like Dickinson tho, she's like poetry's answer to rap. She got the rhymes.

They are all messed up in their own way. Plath and the oven takes the trophy though ..

I actually like most of the poets, I just wouldn't answer a question on some of them :p

I think Kinsella's poetry is actually brilliant, but I just think there's other poets that are easier to write about. "The Call" by Heaney is probably my favourite poem on the whole course but then the rest of his poems are just too abstract for me to use in an exam.

I like all the sad poets because I'm a depressed emo wanker. :)

Plath has some great stuff. Poppies in July and The Times are Tidy probably being my favourite on the course. Wish Robert Frost was on for us. You know your man who wrote The Road not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. Would've been really easy to write about. Think we had him on for JC.

We had prescribed poets for the JC? :pac:

I will 99% write about Heaney in the exam. I find his poetry fascinating along with Mahon's. Yeats/Yeast is a bore. He's either complaining or pleasuring himself over a lake or something.

I remember doing Stopping by woods on a snowy Evening so vividly! Teacher made us learn the whole thing for the JC. Forget most of it now though haha

Not sure if we had prescribed poets for the JC, maybe it was just poems actually. We didn't actually do anything by Robert Frost in school but I answered the question on Stopping by Woods in the exam because I liked it and knew it by heart. I actually wrote the whole poem out below my answer, dunno what my thinking was there. Got the A anyway so I'm not complaining ;)

I remember for the JC I wrote about Mid-Term Break. Such a sad poem.

Please refrain from talking bad about Yeats.

That man is my hero <3

Your philistine opinions are irrelevant to life.

Does anyone else never feel prepared? Like I've been learning the same Stalin show trials essay with 3 years and know it flawlessly but my brain has put it on the 'to look over' list,

another accounting post, I apologize :pac:

in cash flow statements, is there some rule to make sure you don't leave anything out in the Reconciliation of operating profit? Or do you just learn off what goes into it, it's probably a silly question, but I am trying to cover it myself as my teacher never really did

Em, I'm not quite sure what you mean but, essentially what goes into the "reconciliation statement of operating profit to net cash inflow from operating activities" are 1) all the items in the Trading, Profit and Loss which effect profit but not cash and 2) changes in current assets and current liabilities* from this year to last year i.e increase in debtors (but, don't put in purchase of government securities, that goes into the cashflow statement in the management of liquid resources section, or changes in interest, or tax, or dividends or bank and cash, all those items go into the cashflow statement too) so in general it goes like:
    Operating profit
Profit on sale of -insert name of fixed asset-
    Depreciation
    Increase/Decrease in Stock
    Increase/Decrease in Debtors
    Increase/Decrease in Creditors
    Net cash

but if they decided to be cruel the reconciliation statement could look like this:
    Operating Profit
Profit on sale of -insert name of fixed asset-
    Amortisation of patents
    Depreciation
    Increase/Decrease in Stock
    Increase/Decrease in Debtors
Increase/Decrease in Provision for bad debts
    Increase/Decrease in Prepayments
    Increase/Decrease in Creditors
    Increase/Decrease in Payments/Accruals
    Net cash

It would be really unlikely all of these would be included but, the examiner might put in all the general ones and maybe an obscure item e.g increase/decrease in provision for bad debts just to see how people react. I wouldn't worry.
*Current liabilities=creditors:amounts falling due within one year

If this wasn't what you wanted to know sorry...
