But could this just be an eye opener for dog owners to exercise control over their dogs, and think twice about 'trusting' dogs with kids.

I never fail to be amazed how many dog owners assume 'their' dog wouldn't do anything nasty. Socialised/unsocialised. I don't care. If you own a dog you need to have it under your control at all times.

I live in a quiet estate and it's unreal the amount of random dogs that appear in the estate. I've seen dogs in packs of 3 before just wander into the estate and then back out. If you were to walk through our village on any day you'd see 3 or 4 stray (well most have owners who don't give 2 poops so they let there dog roam free as a bird while they stay at home) dogs. So dangerous (and smelly with the dog crap everywhere).
