Hi there. I am just looking for advice. My wife had our first baby in mid march. While she was recovering in hospital a photographer was going round offering photos. So when my wife got home we looked up the photos online and they decided to buy one of the packages on offer. So we waited for the pics to arrive. After a week or so with sign i rang and it went straight to voicemail so I texted and rang plenty of times all were straight to voicemail and the texts never went.
Eventually she sent me a message on Facebook saying she was in hospital and will get the photos sent straight away.
Alas 3 weeks later still nothing. Her phone is off again.
So it is coming up to 8 weeks now.
Can anybody give me advice please.

Did you pay for the photos? If so, how?

    Yes. Debit card

    Yes. Debit card

Maybe you could phone your bank and ask them to return the payment ...my bank has done it for me on a couple occasions when I have ordered goods online that have never arrived ...

Hope you get it sorted ,

Yeah, I was going to suggest looking into a reverse charge, but I don't know if that can be done with a debit card, as opposed to a credit card.

Worth a phone call to the bank, I suppose.

Also, if the guy could be tracked down, it may be possible to bring proceedings against him (perhaps small claims proceedings), and judgment might be enforced by the county sheriff/registrar.

Also let the hospital know that there's a potential scam artist wandering around.

Its a legit company. I checked all the comments on Facebook and twitter. All praising the photos. I'm going to ring the hospital today.

Well if they have lovely comments on Facebook and Twitter, they must be legit. Yet you don't have your photos and they're not communicating with you.

In Ireland, you have exactly the same protection with a debit card as you do with a credit card: http://www.moneyguideireland.com/protection-when-buying-with-debit-or-credit-cards.html

Boardsie Enhancement Suite - a browser extension to make using Boards on desktop a better experience (includes full-width display, keyboard shortcuts, dark mode, and more). Now available through your browser's extension store.

That's very useful information. I think that I know exactly what I would do in this situation!

Indeed. You may also find, coincidentally, that whatever communication problems the photographer was having will clear right up at the same time.

Yeah, I have found on a couple of occasions that as soon as the payment is cancelled they are straight on to you wondering why, when they couldn't be bothered answering your 20 emails and numerous phone calls. I'd definitely get onto your bank and cancel that payment.
