I think I am flogging a dead horse but will ask for advice anyway. Any ideas to slim your waist. My body shape is that I have quite a wide ribcage and also don't have a waist. My waist and hips are the same size. Typical apple. When I put on weight, I look just like a toffee apple on a stick, roundy body and slim legs. Any ideas. I know you cant change what nature gifted you, but having worked so hard, I still can't wear certain clothes. I suppose a bit of it is just accepting yourself as you are with your limitations.

You're not giving a whole lot of information. Are you male or female for a start? Height & weight?

Firstly, there is no way to just lose fat on your abdomen, it's a whole-body process or nothing. However there are ways to make your waist appear slimmer, such as by building up the muscles in your upper and lower body to provide contrast. Athletic shoulders, bum, and legs will help to give the effect you're looking for.

Don't resign yourself that there's nothing you can do to change the way you look. Our bodies are highly adaptable if the right stimulus is provided.

Thanks for the response. I am female, 5ft 6, currently 10stone 3lbs. I have quite a big frame, so dont want to lose any more than say, a half stone.

Obviously, getting older a bit now, (past 40) any weight is starting to sit on my abdomen, probably due to hormone changes, so I am going to have to work that little bit harder to keep trim. I hate that middle aged roundy look with the flat bum and I know if I dont work at it, that is the way I am likely to go.

I've also cut down on wine (am a big fan) as I dont think "wine waist" is a figment of the imagination.

The more calories you eat the more fat you carry.
Where it stores in different from person to person.
Download myfitness pal app and do what it tells you.
weigh your food for a few Weeks to get ideas on portion size.
Your body can be any shape you tell it to be.
