Im sure most people here can spot them a mile off without me naming names.
They transform from skinny to awesome within months some of them.
I can think of two that went up and down in the last couple of years then back up again off the top of my head.
I can think of alot more that must be at it.
Is it a thing studios would expect you to do if you took a film role. Is it something they take upon themselves to look good for a movie?
A skinny lad gets a superhero role suddenly a few months later he looks like a superhero.

I have nothing against peds myself. I think lance should be given his medals back and Chris Benoit was just a prick.

But is there a whole culture of actors getting handed them and being told to put up or shut up?

If it is an actors job to portray a certain character. Then I don't have a problem with him using enhancements. I can think of how it affects anyone.
I'd say more often, its actor's doing it themselves to get the role ahead of the next guy, rather than studios insisting on it - which would get them in a bit of a legal tangle.

I doubt many actors take them. Correct lighting a tan and a pump can make a big difference. I remember before the latest superman film came out there were pictures released of Henry Cavill (superman) doing chinups/pushups in between scenes where he appeared topless.

Now the ballbags that appear on the reality tv shows are another story as I couldn't imagine them being disciplined enough to actually train hard/eat clean.

Id have to disagree with you. Id imagine most, if not all, of the actors who need to get bigger and more muscular for a role are on enhancements of some description.

Would the millions of dollars+ personal chef + Personal trainer and generous amount of time not be enough?

The gains they make in 3 or so months while manageing to get cut. Some serious chefing needed.

Its probably libelous and against the fofum rules.

Are you on about actors or random people in the gym? If you are talking about actors then the 3 month thing is nonsense as most actors will know possibly a full year before a film begins to shoot, and since the scenes don't have to be filmed in the correct order the one or two topless scenes might be shot near the end of filming.

Benoit was, effectively, severely brain damaged from years of repeated head trauma. The fact that he used steroids for a while got all the head-lines, but really his name has no business in this discussion.

Even given a full year and as much personal coaching as they need a natural person could not hope to pack on the tens of pounds of muscle that some actors do. Enhancements most certainly play a part.

Any examples of this? Directors don't go around looking for skinny actors to play the roles of tanks.

Not only the tanks but also the smaller lads with absolutely perfect competion type definition.
Theres one lad was down to about 6 stone filming but was back looking great by the time he was doing the promotion for it.

I saw Mickey Rourke admit on Johnathon Ross that he had used "help" to gain the muscle mass quickly for The Wrestler.

The use of the peds isnt the issue. Its the shut up and take them policy I think is going on.

"Shut up and take it" isn't a recent phenomenon in Hollywood.

Of course many will take them, a flight down to Mexico to pick some up is all it takes. You can even get prescriptions handily enough.
