Designing a meal plan for myself

    Hi, I've decided to try change my eating habits and go healthy, I'm going to excercise at least 3 times a week, I have access to one of them multi gym machines and free weights. I'm 31 5'7" and 75 kg. I'm carrying weight around my belly and chest, waist is 39" measured around my belly button line. I want to build a bit of muscle and loose fat. I've looked at ways over the last few weeks and understand some bits, this site is good at explaining http://simplesciencefitness.com/#quality-foods. From what I gather I need to take in about 1750 cal a day and eat 160gram of protein 135gram of carb and 70gram of fat. Question is is there any other way to measure all the food other than looking at every figure on the box and breaking it down. I'd like to eat 5 times a day and include some protein and creatine shakes. If anyone has any suggestions please help.

    MyFitnessPal is good for tracking your calorie intake and it'll give a breakdown of carbs, protein and fats. Initially,you're better off double-checking with the packet because there are a couple of incorrect figures in the database of foods but i'd say that, in my experience, 99% of the figures are correct.

    You'll need a digital kitchen scales at the start to measure weights of food you're eating but pretty quickly you'll be able to tell by eye how many grams of X there are in what you eat.

    It probably sounds very onerous and it's a departure from what you're used to but things like weighing out food are very short term and you get into the swing of it quickly enough.

    Enjoy the change in your eating habits. A lot of people think eating healthily is boring and sucks the life out of eating. Wrong!

    Just get a plan which fulfils your protein. If you eat protein from natural sources and put it into myfitnesspal you'll find your fat and total calories are close to your goals. Then add in carbs through vegetables.

    Most of the time you can get close to the correct figures just by eating meat and 2 veg Each meal

    Track a healthy diet for a week or so get the broad strokes and frame of your doet down. then adjust up and down as you go by adding or removing some fat/carbs
