Yeah it's really cool. though Lost World is the only one there I don't have that I would be interested in.

Also a new Direct is apparently availalable for MK8. I'm at work so can't confirm

Fantastic offer. Great way for people coming to Wii U for Mario Kart to discover other great games on the system.

Now, to choose between Pikmin 3 and Nintendoland...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

    Lost World? God no!

I'd be tempted by Wonderful 101 (which I haven't gotten yet!).

    Is Wii Party any good?

Anyone have a recommendation between the following? Have the rest :)

    Warioware
    Wonderful 101
    Sonic lost world
    Wii party

    Wonderful 101!

I still haven't got Wonderful 101, so I'll be getting that. I only ordered Wind Waker last week.

    New super marios bros
Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics 2014

might as well add the tenth game to the list.

Out of them, I already have
    Zelda windwaker
    Pikmin 3
    Nintendoland
    Wonderful 101
    New super marios bros

I've no interest in Monster Hunter or the minigame games, which leaves Sonic. :) My fault for getting all the others.

They really need to mention this in their E3 event, since be great publicity and since have to the end of July to register. So anyone buying the Mario Kart bundle gets 2 great games for the price of one

I haven't bought a Nintendo device since the Gamecube, this offer is seriously tempting, I may well crack and buy a Wii U plus claim a free game...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 227 ✭✭hypersquirrel

It'll be Pikmin, Monster Hunter or Zelda for me.

I would tend to say stay clear of Nintendo Land and Wii Party U. Nintendo Land can be picked up for a tenner off amazon and I would personally would rather pick up Wii Party U as a physical copy so I get a remote with it.

That direct was great, has me excited to get it. Online stuff looks brilliant. And when I seen the free game I though it would be indie then I seen the list and was very surprised! Wind waker hd for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,550 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

How long will it take until we have someone posting here looking for a spare code?

Was reading the Terms and conditions.
    Some points to note:
    - Don't rush to register the game the morning you get it as it doesn't start until 10am on May 30th.
    - 1 game per Club Nintendo account
    - 48 hours after registering the game, you can login into your account to claim the free game.
    - Within 48 hours after that you'll receive the game download code by email your Club Nintendo account is through and in your Club Nintendo account
    - While you have to register MK8 by July 31st, you have until Aug 31st to select the game you want, then Sept 30th to use the download code

Wonder if they'll credit you with a purchase for the free game Via the premium promotion?

The one game per account is more likely to mean one issued code rather than redeemed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,734 ✭✭✭✭Ol' Donie

Ah, now we're talking! NSMBU for me for definite. That's brilliant!

really tempted to order this mk8 bundle, having a hard time justifying buying a console for 1st party games only though...

I've seen reports on reddit about American games gotten for free like this giving credit.

Dunno which I'll get, the only ones I don't own are the party ones, game and wario and w101.
Tried the demo of w101 and it was alright but not something I'd buy.

Was on the fence about how soon I'd buy MK8 but now I get a free copy of Windwaker? Bargain!

Although Wonderful 101 is tempting as I'd prefer a physical version of WW ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 342 ✭✭SuperDude87

Do we actually get to choose or is it a code for anyone Ninty fancies.

I keep analysing the wording and it's never really clear.
And it's valid all over Europe right (France included?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Going by the previous examples of these kind of deals on the 3DS, you have to choose which of the free games you want, and they send you the code for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

the instructions clearly say "choose which of the elligible games you wish to receive" so, like the So Many Games promo on 3DS last year you should get your pick of the litter.

If Murphyebass made it here from the WiiU thread, the free game is a download, but the registered Mariokart can be eShop or Physical as long as you register the stars for it.

Can I be the first to start begging for a Mario Kart 8 stars code? Ah go on, I's got 5 kids to feed.

I will be getting a lot of platformers and was going to buy Sonic Lost World anyway but Maybe I should try something else. Windwaker maybe? Hmmmm decisions decisions

Where did I say I'm not buying Mario Kart?

I'm just begging for other people's codes. Maybe Sonic's not as bad as they say it is :D

Might be worth checking the trade in price for Mario Kart in the days after its release, if the game costs €50 and you get €35 back for it might be worth paying the €15 just for the code to reg and get a free game, just thinking outside the box here. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Why would anyone want to trade in Mario Kart?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,553 ✭✭✭murphyebass

The problem with the free game for me is I will still want the physical disc. If it'd had been 3rd party ported games like lets say Deus Ex I'd not have cared about getting the hard copy, I'd have been happy to play the game and forget about it but for exclusive to the Wii U stuff I'll want the hard copy at some point. It'll be a while before I get a chance to play the downloaded game what with purchasing Mario Kart and the backlog of games I already have.

For a console with seemingly no games I'm building up a nice little collection.

.. It'll be Windwaker for me btw.

then in a years or so's time when the price for the physical game eventually goes down a tad I'll pick it up just to have. It'll end up as a sealed copy sitting collecting dust.

I've reigned in the collector in me somewhat. I dont buy games now I wouldnt like to play at some point. I used to buy games essentially for the sake of putting it on a shelf and "owning/having". What use it to me! God I did that with so many 360 and ps2 games over the years. It all adds up, a tenner here a fiver there. I'm beyond help when it comes to exclusives though! :(

Hence my post above read between the lines guys, CeX will probably be giving €35 for Mario Kart 8 for at least the first few days/week, buy a couple take out the codes and sell the games and minus off the cost for your codes. I very rarely post things like this as to most people it brings on a brain fart as seen above, just think outside the box for once.

Great deal to be honest. Going digitally with Mario Kart so probably gonna run out of room pretty soon. :pac:

To spell it out before RB blows a gasket :)

There will be people - not many, but the odd one - who have a Wii U and don't want MarioKart 8. Or can't afford it yet but can afford €15-20 for Wind Waker or W101. These people may be inclined to buy your mariokart stars code to redeem for the free game.

There will be other households that have multiple Nintendo accounts - for example 3 kids with DSes - and a WiiU under the telly. Each account can register MarioKart 8 seperately for a unique redemption code.

Generally, the way the Ninty online system works, it'll be one free game code issued per account against which Mariokart 8 is registered and you can only register the game once. However the redemption code is likely to be redeemable on any WiiU, so that there's nothing to stop you registering Mariokart 10 times on 10 different accounts and then redeeming the 10 different games against 1 WiiU. The codes you get from free game promos are the same format and general series as the ones you get from Game or the Ninty online store. I don't think they can tell where it came from to prevent you multi-redeeming. Also, they can't tell how much the game cost you, so you get credited points based on the current eShop price. (I'd expect they'd resolve that before MK8 goes live, but they never cease to amaze me in how unprepared they can be for online events)

Of course, no one knows for sure till they try it... Hey, why not give me your MarioKart stars code and I'll come back to you with a definitive result by the 3rd of June?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,282 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

I wont blow a gasket, the point is just because you reg a code on a club nintendo account doesn't mean you have to redeem that code on the respective Wii U or 3DS as it maybe console linked with the account, the code is yours to do with as you please, buy loads of Mario Kart 8 and get all the free games, I did the same thing last year and ended up with all the free games available when you reg the three games.

Set up some alternative club nintendo accounts and reg as many Mario Kart 8 as you like.

Eh, I'd be somewhat tempted to do that but I have most of those games anyway. Maybe if they did another one few years down the line with more games on offer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,613 ✭✭✭Nollog

The codes don't come with the game, you have to register Mario Kart online, and it'll be one free game per account...

It's a scratch-off code like any other game, if you've got access to 10 email accounts and the time to make nintendo star accounts or whatever it's called, you can potentially buy 10 mario kart 8's trade in 9 (or 10) and sell on 10 codes to cover any costs.
I'm sure there'll be plenty of enterprising folk trying this out.
Hell, I'd do it with 2 just so I don't have to choose between w101 and game&wario but I don't think any of those two games would be worth it, so I shant be partaking.

Also, Dunno who's the cheapest at the moment, but if amazon price-match anyone, there'd be no harm in putting in a demand at flubbit.

Multiple accounts seem to be an obvious solution here. The thinking behind this from what I can see is continuously paying 15 quid for each game on the list, albeit on separate accounts. Unless there's some sort of tie to your console itself? Haven't done much research on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,282 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Remember to check the trade in price first, no point in getting 5 or more Mario Kart 8 just for the codes and finding out the codes cost you more than the free game you are choosing is worth new.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Remember, when opening multiple accounts you should ensure that you're picking suitable user names for your children. This is your legacy!

Your club nintendo account doesn't have usernames, only email address.
The code you get can be used on any account, even the same one as you used another code on from the same offer.

You're not allowed have jokes dammit.:pac:
