    Hi

My mum has one of this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andrew-James-Electric-Teppanyaki-Barbecue/dp/B003USP2WA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1398796751&sr=8-4&keywords=griddle

food comes out a little like when you roast it in the oven. It's lovely, it cooks in a few minutes and it's easy to clean and very practical. She cooks all sorts of stuff like mushrooms, onions, sweet potatoes, courgette, all sorts of vegetables and meat and fish. She puts a tiny tinsy bit of olive oil like when you roast veggies but even less amount.

Is this type of cooking bad? I've heard loads of times that barbecuing food is bad for you (can't quite remember why right now) but is this bad too?

    Thanks in advance

The health risks of BBQing come from the burning of the meat. The charred meat and smoke can produce carcinogenic chemicals.

From a practical point of view I can't see how the electric griddle would be any better or worse than frying on a non stick pan?

Yes, that's right, it's exactly like shallow frying and the results are the same but more practical and quicker.

Thanks, i just wanted to be sure before buying it. I've been using it for two weeks in my mum's house and I have to say I'm well impressed.
