Phew, was getting worried for a second. Thought they had forgoteen about Smash Bros since they never seem to mention it.

So what do ye all think about a Digital Event?

I don't mind other than the fact that it's more or less confirmed that they'll be revealing Zelda U and the Zelda games always get a great reaction from the crowd at teh conference..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

I think its a good idea. Nintendo clearly seems pretty confident, which is great. I'm hoping for

    Realistic stuff

    New metroid game
    Majoras mask 3DS
Linked accounts to allow GBA games on 3DS
Hopefully the pokemon battle game on Wii U

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,548 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Was talking to someone who said he read online where there would be 3 Zelda games. When he said that he didn;t believe it, but I realised it was possible.
    Zelda U
    Hyrule Warriors
    Majora 3DS

I would also like Metroid U. And to tide us over to the Metroid U release, a HD release of the Prime trilogy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

Eh, prime trilogy hasn't been out that long, so I doubt it. The galaxy games in HD though <3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,282 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Metroid Prime Trilogy has been out nearly 5 years, if it were a Spielberg or Lucas project it would have been HD,3D,spliced with other franchises infinite times over by now.

I would kill for Majora on 3DS, love that clocktown theme.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,548 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I own 3 copies of Majora (2 GC and 1 N64) but still never played it properly. I started it once and got to a certain point but then I started working and stopped gaming for a while. Never got back to it so would appreciate the 3DS version.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

Nintendo generally doesn't do that though :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

All I want is a 2D (not the 2.5D/NSMB look) metroid for the 3DS.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

    Zelda WII U
    Majoras Mask 3DS
    F-Zero Wii U
    Metroid Wii U
    Mario Galaxy U
    GBA Games on 3DS
Gamecube VC titles for Wii U
    Linked Accounts
3DS as second controller for Wii U
    Substantial price reductions for VC
Substantial improvements to the Wii U VC
    Cross platform purchasing
And Mother 4 while you're at it...

Pretty please Nintendo, it's not too much to ask, is it? :o

Good list but one glaringly big ommision has to be Lylat Wars Wii U.

I'd even settle for a HD remake of Lylat Wars 64. Dont get me wrong still love playing it on the N64 but christ can you imagine it in HD?!

I also love to see them sort out the VC. Give us N64 games for crying out loud Nintendo!! You'll make loads of money from us, well me anyway. :o

Those two I wouldn't be too fussed on to be perfectly honest (Please don't stone me!)
F-Zero never really did anything for me, I much prefer Mario Kart.
The 3DS just doesn't have the resolution to handle being a second controller for the Wii U, unless games were made to adapt to handle it specifically (which I don't really see happening, with the exception of maybe one or two Nintendo games)

I'd love a new Wave Race game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,750 ✭✭✭ghostchant

Actually I'd love another F-Zero game - I always preferred them to the Mario Kart games, the lack of weapons and the risk/reward of boost power in the later games made them feel far more pure. Nintendo hasn't been very forthcoming with its three 'sci-fi' franchises (Metroid, F-Zero, Starfox...or Earthbound/Mother for that matter) in recent generations

Or a new Jet Force Gemini.

    Metroid?
Other M and Prime 3 were both on the Wii. That's forthcoming in my book.

Fair point, they didn't jump out at me when I (admittedly fleetingly) cast my mind back...though that probably says as much about their quality relative to their predecessors as much as it does my memory. Metroid Prime Hunters was last-gen too, and there's been a couple of Star Fox games in that time-frame too, though one was a remake and the other was released to little fanfare on the DS.

Other M did more harm than good in terms of the franchise's reputation, and as great as the Prime games are at capturing the metroid 'feel' in 3D (the first one is certainly one of the best games I've ever played), I think the series is best-realised in 2D.

Unfortunately I don't think Super Metroid will be topped in terms of giving players an alien world to explore and, crucially, trusting them enough to not fill the game with exposition and hand-holding.

All I want is some nice game announcements (not retreading games we know about already) and a good timeframe. Weve known about MK8 and WiiU Smash for over a year now but they are still not out. Nintendo needs games on the shelves, not a nice video and 16 months of waiting and teasing people with vids every 3 or 4 months.

When i eventually buy a 3DS itll be my first purchase. However i just cant justify one right now. I will but just not yet. I'm playing the Vita more than thought i would tbh along with the Wii U. Maybe Xmas. As it stands itll get the mid ahead of the PS4

Always guaranteed to be someone claiming to know what's coming up so here's the first one I've seen
    http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/ive-got-very-hot-informations-regarding-e3-rumor.453951809/
    - The Digital Event is completely different from a regular direct, it features a stage and a audience which are 80+ knownless fans invited from Nintendo to a special room. They will make it atmospheric as they can, Reggie, Iwata, Aonuma etc are on stage, furthermore it will have a changing background with fog machines etc. So you truly won't miss the old conferences :)

    - Nintendo will announce Zelda U, he said it's going to be the game we are waiting for, very big world, fully filled with many secrets and life, it will feature a more stylized tech demo look, it has a more mature storyline and sidequests similar to Majoras Mask, complex dungeons and there's a very cool feature which will drive the Zelda series so much forward. That's the informations I could get out of him!

    - he said "Nintendo will finally announce many comebacks from old IPs we are waiting for and they will blow your mind". (I guess FZero, Metroid, Starfox etc? )

    - Nintendo will announce some new IP's, two casual IPs in the vein of Nintendogs and Wii Sports , the others are hardcore IPs in the Zelda, Metroid league and there is even one IP which will appeal to the CoD/BF audience with Nintendo gameplay. (NICE!! Nobody needs new casual IPs though, glad there are also some new hardcore IPs!)

    - There is one cancelled project that was previously announced (? Don't really get what he means)

    - Besides of that, they will also show many new 3DS games and a new hardware!

    - He said QoL will be discussed on a seperate event at E3 time (maybe one treehouse livestream?) to appeal to the right audience.

    - There are some remakes (Majoras Mask??!?)

    - Iwata will talk a little about his mistakes

    - It's planned to have a lot of charming jokes like you saw in the Reggie Fils A Mech video

    - There will be a BIG surprise at the end that will completely blow ur mind!

    Sounds good!

Even if it is bull**** it makes me look forward to E3, even this early.

I'd love a proper 3D Donkey Kong game. Like one in the same style as DK64. Now I know Rare made that, and they are detached in part and the rest are with microsoft. But I think Retro have done well enough with the DK Country Returns games, that they would do homage to a 3D DK.

Who doesn't look forward to it ;)

I'd love to see a decent Megaman action/adventure/rpg game. I remember they brought out 1 for the 64 which I played a couple years ago but was fairly lacking. I think if they got the formula right they could have a whole sequence of really good games. Where's that dude with Megaman as his avatar when ye want his opinion!

You're pretty much describing the Mega Man Legends franchise on the PS. Highly regarded, and a portion of the internet went bananas when MML3 was cancelled a few years ago.

Remember it indeed, the Virtual Reality Oculus Rift like Mario game was a particular favourite rumour at the time.

I think we'd all love to be surprised, I really hate that underwhelmed feeling after E3. Even though Nintendo's initial Wii U conference was a bit confusing, it was exciting as hell to see this new tech. A similar sense of new and surprise would be welcomed.

So the latest ign Nintendo podcast talks about how they heard from multiple sources there would be new hardware announced.

Would likely only be a revision of an existing product or a peripheral of sorts. Mainly because announcing a new console would be something to do at a live conference.

    3DSi?

Don't really see how they could update the 3DS. The original is basically the DSi and then it has a XL version. And then have the 2DS.

And as much as people would like a new model of Wii U, or at least the gamepad, I think it wouldn't be great for goodwill after encouraging everyone to buy a Wii U with Mario Kart just over a week before. Because of that I can see sales not being boosted too much by Mario Kart until after E3.

Oh and just an FYI since I just realised: 29 days to MK8 and 40 days to the E3 conference.

Built from the ground up with NNIDs and Miiverse completely integrated into the OS. Friend Codes gone forever. Faster CPU and more RAM, which can be used by 3DSi-enhanced games. Better cameras. Second analogue slider, and two extra shoulder buttons, which together act as a Circle Pad Pro in supported games. Can be used as a Wii U controller.

    Pure speculation :p

A Lego 3DS! Have to buy all the parts separately, which will be equally painful if you step on it.

An extremely poorly timed Wii U relaunch? A new gameboy? Anything I tell you.

Doubt there's new hardware, if there is, it could just be the gamepad finally being sold separately.

Well Nintendo shot down the new hardware rumour. Probably a good idea to do it now so as to not harm a MK8 sales boost

I really cant see why this issue keeps coming up.

It doesnt make any sense to me. The Wii U gamepad is the biggest selling point of the system.

Its not the gamepads problem the system isnt selling its Nintendo's amazing refusal to market the bloody thing properly.

I know the counter arguement is it'll make it cheaper but seriously how cheap does this system need to be before people take notice. Its essentially 200lids right now which is half of the PS4 and less than half of the Xbone.

AND it has a way better library currently as it's been out for a while.

Lastly I love my gamepad. I play 90% of may Wii U games on it. All games should support it for off TV play. Thats all I want from it.

    My predictions:

Zelda Wii U - It will get an unveiling, either at the beginning or at the end of the Digital Event. I'm not expecting too much information though, due to Hyrule Warriors launching in Q4 2014. I hope MM3DS will be announced - there are just too many coincidences that it must be in development.

New Mario - With SSB43DS launching this summer (August/September), I don't think there is any other major game that has been unveiled for the 3DS (other than Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Tomodatchi). And it has been a while since SM3DLand - November 2011. So I think that Mario will be represented more on the 3DS than Wii U this Christmas.

And that's what I think will definitely be announced. I've put a list below of other franchises that might be looked at.

Yoshi - Surely Yarn Yoshi will be fully revealed and a Q4 release date attached with it.
Wario - it's been a while since he had a new platforming game. Perhaps he's due a comeback.
Kid Icarus - With the Wii U stage in SSB4, I think that a home console sequel to Uprising is in development.
SSB4 - I'd love if all the original characters - Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff and Ness, along with Mewtwo - were added to the roster. I think Palutena will be revealed. And Mr Pacman and the main character from Bayonetta, too. [Other newcomers I think include: Professor Layton, Shulk from Xenoblade, Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening, a character from the DK series, and Ghirahim from Skyward Sword, with Demise as his Final Smash].
Pokémon - There has to be something poké-related at E3. Perhaps something to do with that MMO screenshot released last year.
Wii series - Surely a new Wii Sports or Wii Party or Wii Something will be shown.
Metroid - I expect a new Metroid game to be unveiled on either 3DS or Wii U

My understanding is 2014 E3 has for the past while, always been designated as Zelda U's grandiose reveal. From a pure business perspective I don't think Nintendo are in the mindset of teasing these days, if there's content to flaunt with regard to this title I fully expect to see something substantial. Could go either way really, just hoping it goes mine. :P

    What?
They promised 2-player gamepad support a few months after launch back at the e3 where they first showed the gamepad.
2 years on we still don't got no 2nd gamepad support.
    Dunno what you're talking about.

2.5D Metroid on 3DS seems to be the buzzword right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,282 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

That would be very hard on the eyes, the amount of colours in Metroid clashed with any kind of 3D would be trippy.

From someone I know off a different forum who works for a certain magazine and is usually bang on for nintendo's E3 predictions
We'll see Zelda U at E3 and whatever Koizumi's been working on. I've got the feeling we might get a new 2.5D Metroid on 3DS rather than on Wii U. I'm afraid I think F-Zero is done for the time being, though Star Fox is a possibility, albeit maybe not right now. There'll also be something Mario-related, but I'm not sure what form that will take.

The last F-zero game was more than 10 years ago? Long time to be put on hiatus.
