There are 33 calories in an after eight . This is really all you need to know. If you can have just 1 then it's fine , if your the type were one leads to 20 it might be best to avoid

When I first started to lose weight I eliminated chocolate / sweets etc totally. Cold turkey. As I found that was the easiest way to manage it

I am now fully in control of my weight loss / gain, I have a clean sustainable diet because ive educated myself so I can eat these things without being afraid of falling off the wagon.

So.. You could eat 250 calories of chocolate everyday and continue to lose weight.

But if you don't have the discipline to leave it at a single portion its best avoided.. This is why you see people who are on unsustainable diets saying "oh I had a bad weekend" where they eat 3 easter eggs, a packet of chocolate digestives and half a cake.

    anyway TLDR:

You can have chocolate in moderation every single day and live a healthy lifestyle and reach your fitness goals

Thats the thing. Its only the last month or so that ive been having my after eight treat and the last few days im wondering is this ok. I guess i feel like i need aa bit of a treat. Im exercisin 6 days a week. An hour a day. Sometimes more.

Im thinkin of introducing a crunchie bar once a week to!

    Thanks for your reply

A bar etc is fine as long as it fits into your calorie requirements and your macros.

As long as the exercise you do is maintained then the odd treat is fine. Theres no point crash dieting and exercising like crazy only to stop altogether and then start eating badly again plus metabolism and blood sugar would be all over the place. i lost 2 stone by gradually introducing a new food every day (swap fried breakfast for pineapple chunks) then eat everything else as normal exercise 15 mins, then next day swap fatty dinner for a salad and chicken wrap do 20 mis and so on...

2 stone in 3 months by gradual changes.

    Cheers

I have just hit 8 stone weight loss, started in Jan 2013. I started with Slimming World, and light exercise and have worked up to joining a gym and going 5 or 6 times a week. I have moved away from SW to a more healthy, sustainable healthy eating habit that I hope to maintain for the future.

Throughout this process I have allowed myself to eat chocolate, in very small quantities. I find that the evenings for me were the toughest, so by having a small treat (between 60 & 100 kcal) with a cup of tea it makes the difference for me, it curbs cravings and feels like a treat. In that way I found that I am not depriving myself. Now in saying that I follow a strict diet day in day out, and am very careful about eating out etc. If I have a bad meal I dont let that turn into a day/week, I get back on track.

I don't each chocolate every day, but I find that small amount of chocolate is enough to keep me on track. Like others said as long as you maintain a calorie deficiency you will continue to loose weight.

    Best of luck !!
