Hi does anyone have any details of a gym in Cork that have a course or workshop on barbell training, I would love to take it up but would like to make sure that I am doing it properly from the beginning

Already go to the gym 3 times a week so commitment/motivation isnt an issue, more not having the confidence to make the transition from the dumbbells/ free weights to the real thing

or is it a case of hiring a personal trainer for a few weeks to go through it with me?

    thanks!

The mardyke arena, where I train, has a number of staff that would be able to help you.

Can I tack onto this and ask if anyone knows anything about Fitnessworx and if it would be a good place to go for weights training? http://www.fitnessworx.ie/

    What are your goals?

Crossfit is expensive at first glance but there are a few great crossfit gyms in Cork that have great trainers, that will teach you almost every barbell move you need and get you ridiculously fit at the same time (assuming you work at it).

Crossfit costs anywhere from €70 a month to €150 a month depending on classes etc. That's a far better option than going to a gym for €50 a month and doing it yourself without proper supervisiona dn training (which may occur if you don't get a good trainer.

Well equipped, plenty of squat racks, bars, plates, dumbbells, kettlebells and space to use them. Lads that run it are good as well.

Fitnessworx looks decent, crossfit a bit expensive, is there someone in fitnessworx to go through the basics? I know it is probably time consuming for the first few weeks but I would happily pay for one on one instruction

To update I went with Fitnessworx, really happy with it, paid for some one to one tuition on the lifts so can now progress with confidence.
Some really fit people using the gym so it's something to aspire to as well
