    Hi all.

Let me first explain I suffer an anxiety disorder and am on quite a bit of medication to keep my mood stable. The medication interferes a bit with your motabilism and is notorious for causing weight gain :( I came off the meds about 2 months ago and joined a fitness club where I lost 5 pounds the first week through eating nutritiously and doing intensive workouts 3 times a week. Unfortunately I suffered a setback a couple of weeks ago and was advised to quit the intensive workouts. Now I'm back on the medication as per my doctors instructions and my appetite is gone back up, I'm trying hard to be good. I'm wondering if there are any diet pills that could help me along. I'm not looking for anything illegal, dangerous that could interfere with my health. More something safe I could take everyday that would maybe help to reduce the amount of calories I want, like an appetite suppresent I suppose.

OP, I'd talk to your doctor. The reason is that some medications can interfere with others. If you take medication X for appetite it could interfere with your other medications for your existing conditions, slowing down your recovery. Your GP will know what medication not to take with others so talk to the pro's.

As you are on existing medication, talk to your GP. Maybe it's not what you want to hear but for your long term recovery it's the best route.

coconut oil is a good and healthy appetite suppressant. just plop a serving in your mouth, swish it around to melt it a bit and wash it down quickly with a small bit of water.

afaik any pill or drink form appetite suppressant is just going to be caffeine or some other stimulant which really isn't what people with anxiety disorder need to be taking

im the same way with vigorous exercise, if my heart rate gets too high my body/brain/me starts going through all the panic attack/adrenaline associations and I start freaking out but up until quite recently I was losing 1-2lb a week just by going for a morning/evening 6k walk and eating at a minor calorie deficit and the regular exercise and fresh air was doing wonders for my general state of mind.

    Hi lukesmom

I really feel for your situation and I admire your dedication to keeping your mental health as stable as possible.

I'd be afraid that any appetite suppressants would interfere with the chemical balance and would so be dangerous to your health.

I've taken chromium based suppressants before and I felt horrible. Really panicky with my heart racing . So never again.

The only way I can sustain weight loss is through Unislim. The current plan really works for me in that it encourages a set amount of brown carbs, good protein and lots and lots if fruit and veg.

So all I can offer is watch the carbs use brown pasta etc and snack on fruit and veg. Veg is better as it has less sugar.

Always have grapes melon or carrots sticks in fridge. Drink loads water . I find drinking Coolish boiled water us more palatable .

This might not be advice you looking for but I do hope it helps.

    Best of luck lukesmom

Yes - don't forget to try taking a drink of water when you'd normally have a snack. Often consuming something can be as much of a habit as anything, so plain water does the trick - or sticking a splash of lemon juice in it (no need for sugar - you're not adding enough lemon to make it sour) can make it less boring. And drink plenty of water with your meals too - it all helps to give that feeling of fullness.

    Best of luck.
