Re-signings can be done anyway you want.

But be warned if you give a shedload of bonus to a player and he gets injured in the first week.. you make it impossible to cut him!

    ****************************************************

For Free Agency and i'll remind you all again before it starts

Remember gents, max of 20% of total contract value can be salary.

If you want to offer a total of 1 million, this mean 800,000 is salary, 200,000 is bonus.

    Handy spreadsheet here, SPREADSHEET

There will be no excuses taken, if you fcuk up on bonus % or years (or both) you will be forced to release the player and take the cap hit.

    Please thank the post.

Had a look over retirements (didn't want to start a new thread)

Nines have lost Phil Dawson, Anquan Boldin & Frank Gore

Bears may need to draft a new D, lost Julius Peppers, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillmann, Richard Seymour and Scott Shanle

Falcons had 5 players retire but nobody really notable

Only other big names for human teams Mike Vick for the Chiefs and Reggie Wayne for the Colts

Edit: I'm only seeing the retirements thread now

    Players Leaving
    A.Sherman FB 94-Good Fullback
A.Smith QB 94-Cracking QB,short, medium and deep accuracy all 90+,has a bitta speed to get out of trouble, throw power only 85 but I've never had a problem with it
A.Bailey LE 82-Block Shed, power moves and strenght all 90+,7 sacks for the season, could be a good pickup for someone
rest are rated less than 80 so just depth guys

Some very good players hitting free agency this year it seems. This is where the teams with significant cap space can really separate themselves.

It's a pity we only have the time to play three seasons as I think if we had a five season league that we'd obviously see teams completely transformed and later round draft picks take on more even more relevance as they could be developed into very good starters.

From the Saints, hitting free agency that will be able to start elsewhere are:

    Roman Harper SS - 86
    Derrick Coleman FB - 81
    Antonio Garay RE - 79
Sione Pouha DT - 79 (plays better than his OVR)
Mark Ingram HB - 78 (plays better than his OVR)

    The rest are scrubs really.

Franchise tagged Signed Muhammed Wilkerson, cost 3mill less per year that what he wanted as part of a 4 year salary.

Loads of WR leaving NYC. Clyde Gates (87) Ted Ginn (83) Jeremy Kerley (77) plus another WR who was on a one year deal.

All my free agents left with the exception of one Guard who stayed put.

Not a huge an of all the free agency happening over the long weekend, won't be able to log on at all I'd say. Should be back for the draft but will have no scouting done.

Yep it only slightly reduces the chances of the player retiring.

I had the HB retirement package cos I thought Greene might, he stayed and Jackie battle who's you get went and retired!

Can somebody explain why after releasing players that i couldnt Re-sign, my cap space has not increased, there was no release penalty with any of them.

because the season is over and we havent advanced to the next season. You have already paid these guys their salary for the year so releasing them even when there's no penalty doesnt make a difference to your costs

Taught that but when i released them 1st my cap space increased but now its gone back down so just taught i'd ask, one thing for sure is........im screwed now for FA

In order to free up cap space you need to release players who are signed beyond this year. Releasing players whose contract is already finished won't help.

Yep i sort of knew that but like i said my cap space went up when i released them so taught i'd ask.

You have a rookie reserve as well so if you were to trade away a first round pick for example your cap space would increase as well.

I think I made a booboo. :o I was doing my resignings there and went out of the resigning screen to check my depth chart to see if some players were needed or not. Anyways I was dismissing all of the notifications of x player has agreed to the contract and I dismissed the "resign your players" link.

I can't seem to get to any resigning or renew contracts through the depth chart or roster view or team needs. :/

Ah well. The only ones of note are Tebow who wanted 35 million over 4 years and Jerrigan a receiver.

Baltimore have 240k to spend. You couldn't sign a one legged punter for that money

Just torture looking at these attractive FA's and no chance :(

    Roll on the draft

Have a look at my three QB's, Barkley and the Rookie from last season have low contracts in particular. Might be an option for you if you want to trade. Barkley has insane accuracy, and his XP generates fairly quickly too. Only reason I dropped him late last season was some of the throws I like to make require a strong arm for avoiding DB's when throwing across field to the outside. His power is 85, I believe.

Not even entirely sure I prefer Foles to him tbh.

Just said I'd throw it out there in case you were worried about the QB situation!

Quick question re: free agency contracts lads.

Say for example I'm offering someone $64m over 4 years.

20% of $64,000,000 is $12,800,000, so does that mean that I can offer a bonus of up to that for such a deal? The reason I ask is that when I go to my negotiation list I see the below:

"4/$36m contract with $28m signing bonus"

The above has just thrown me off a little but I think I'm correct in what I said originally, am I?

    Thanks.

    Okay, I've gone 4 years.

    Salary $9m (so x4 would be $36m)
    Bonus $7m (so x4 would be $28m)

    Total = $64m

Is that alright? Or am I making a complete balls of that deal? Maths and NFL contracts are not my forte to say the least :pac:

Your max bonus is 20% of 64m which is 12.8m

Don't think you can do that.

    9+7 = 16. 20% of 16 = 3.2m

So Bonus per year would be $3.2m, and Salary would then be $12.8m

Over the four years, Salary is 51.2, Bonus is 12.8. Total = $64m

Cheers mate. So taking another example, just to clarify:

    Salary - $4.5m (x4 = $18,000,000)
    Bonus - $1.2m (x4 = $4,800,000)

    Total = $22.8m

However, 20% of $22.8m = $4,560,000 so does this mean I am over the 20% bonus threshold by $240,000 when offering $4,800,000? If the answer to that is yes then I finally know what I am doing :pac:

    Thanks.
