This could be my chance to bring my niece up in a helicopter for close to affordable prices. :)

I was mainly referring to the two De havilland Vampires in the airshow poster. These would be a nice addition to the lineup. Love the sound of that Goblin engine.

Are you sure it's only the last two years. I'm a bray resident and unless I'm going mad I would have said that pleasure heli flights have been running since the inception of the Bray Air Displays??

Oh....I think I will made the (short) journey if able. The Cold War jets would be the draw for me.

No chance of the 757 swinging by en route to/from Boston or Toronto?

The website did state that at least one other Team was to be annouced by today. I note the Twister Team are now a Three Ship formation. I wonder will the Mig and Sabre display together?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭airbusa320

No more announcements today according to a post on the Bray FB page last night. 50 days to go from tomorrow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭airbusa320

Irish air corps PC-9, Casa CN235, AW139 and cessna added.
    The Yakaloves have been removed

    F-86 won't be there either....

" Duxford based Golden Apple Operations Ltd has today suspended flying of their North American F-86A Sabre. Subject to completion of contract the aircraft will be returning to the United States in the very near future."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭BeardySi

Which is a double shame cos the MiG-15 will be.... now there's a pairing I'd love to see in the air!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 352 ✭✭jasT1981

Bray is working on another jet to replace the F86
Good news for the new owner...bad news for us for Bray 2014 - the Sabre has been sold so is not available for this year's show. We are however confident we have found another classic LOUD jet to take its' place...once the paperwork is in place we will let you know.

    I'd say it'll be a jet provost

Don't think a jet provost would be considered LOUD by jet standards! ;)

Any idea as to why? I've not seen any statements.

I actually run the Northern Ireland and Ireland airshow Facebook group, and had a few ask me tonight as to whats gone on.

The Vulcan would be a major coup and thats why I very much doubt it will happen. Isn't the Avro Vulcan perpetually 'rumoured' to appear at every event in Ireland?

Not heard any rumours up here in the north. The biggest rumour up here is the Canadian Lancaster at Portrush. Though the Vulcan is in Northern Ireland on the 9th August in Newcastle Co Down :)

In case not everyone in your household is an aviation nut, it's worth noting that that Sunday (July 20th) is also the date of the Leinster Senior Football final and the last day of the British Open (Golf).

The Mig has pulled out, instead there will be extra time for miss demeanour to display

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭airbusa320

Its a shame that the Mig will not be there but Miss demeanour puts on a great display . Lets hope the weather gods are good to us

If anyone knows the practice times for the Saturday would appreciate any info. Also where performing aircraft will be flying out of. I'd imagine Bal will get the dibs again on the jet traffic as per the flight fest last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭Calibos

Just need to lose the Vampires now and we'll be back to last years line-up or thereabouts. Pity.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 688 ✭✭✭Aerohead

To be honest there is not much in the display line up to get excited about, still a major lack of fast jets and I think with Bray Head in the frame it will always be a problem.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭airbusa320

Having Miss demeanour this year is a big positive as well as the Norwegian vampires. The strikemaster will also be back. It was only lst year that Bray had its first jet so things are looking up in my opinion.
Lets just hope the weather dosent spoil it.

not exactly true.remember back when it started the last aircraft to display was a black jet provost.....and they had aircraft from the royal netherlnds airforce too....a pc-7 (which displayed twice due to the coast guard heli being called out on a real rescue) and also augusta /westland rescue heli similar to a huey

Different organisers that year-afaik. That was also the year the IAC marked Spitfire displayed. There was also an excellent combined helicopter display of the outgoing Gazelle, Alouette and Dauphin. These days the Air corps performances are very mundane-this is probably attributed to their reduced fleet. I have noticed that the Bray Airshow seems to avoid foreign military acts. I wonder is this to avoid any potential protests that may result. There was of course the few USAF flypasts but how come we have never seen the RAF ?

yes,as far as i know it was originally organised by another crew.the combined air corps heli display was great and the iac spitfire was a nice touch too.and yes i also onder why the raf have not attended it yet....its not like they are a million miles away...maybe this year, afterall i have heard that there is supposed to be a surprise that is both FAST and LOUD...we shall see on the day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭airbusa320

Yes you are correct but it was a different organiser afaik. Looked like a nice little line up that year. Has any one got any photos from that year? As for the RAF I wondered that as well.
A susprise would be very nice indeed.

I'd arrive early if you are planning on coming. Some genius has decided that having Bray Wanderers play Manchester United on the same day is a good idea. The town will be packed.
