Film called 'The Box' on tv at the moment.
Plot: "A small wooden box arrives on the doorstep of a married couple, who know that opening it will grant them a million dollars and kill someone they don't know."

    So, would you?

It seems to have been set about twenty years ago, when a million dollars would have been worth substantially more than now.

In a heartbeat. The guilt would subside over time.

But then what if someone you love dearly passed away suddenly a week later?

I'd think it was payback for me opening the box, because I did it, and killed a person, then its my turn to feel the grief I caused when the next person choses to open it!

A million is still a Hell of a lot of money. I could live pretty comfortably for a good while. So yes, and also because anonymous murder is hilarious.

No because it's looking like cameron diaz or hottie husband is next to get the button. Plus guilt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,580 ✭✭✭✭Riesen_Meal

Yup, I think I would have to do it...

A million quid is not to be sniffed at, and people die all the time anyway... :D

*insert more reasoning for justification in my head*

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,207 ✭✭✭longhalloween

So long as the person who died wasn't me or anyone I know, then yes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,354 ✭✭✭nocoverart

Yes, but I'd give the million to charity to appease the guilt. LOL.

I think you'll find a lot of people don't put even put one percent of that value on lives..kinda tragic.

Anyway in theory I'm thinking I would. I'd never know the person who died and people die every day but in practise, not too sure. One million isn't really enough to live with the guilt.

I would not give it a second thought. I would definitely open the box and while I was at it open up Cameron Diaz box as well :p

Not trying to be all moral or anything, just wondering if people had considered this and still would.

    Yeah, I would.

I'd just hope the person killed was a cunt.

EDIT: Jesus, it's 5 years today since I joined boards.
I've wasted a quarter of my life.

I'd do it and use part of the proceeds to pay for the life-saving treatment of sick child/children. Therefore, someone would have died but others, who would have otherwise died, would be saved and I'd be a few hundred thousand richer.

Theres a slightly greater than 1 in 4 chance that the person who died would be under 15.
According to the 2006 CIA World Factbook, around 27% of the world's population is below 15 years of age

Man, I still wake up in a cold sweat, dreaming of minor transgressions from my youth. Absolutely not. Doesn't matter what money, I would selfishly choose to spare my sanity.

You could save a lot of lives with a million euro.
It would make sense to open the box.
