This is a bit random but maybe someone can help.

My Mum (Dublin city based) has the basic package from UPC - RTE/TV3/BBC/ITV/C4/SkyNews etc.
Last Saturday she wanted to watch the Grand National at 4.15, wouldn't have known what station it was on but went through all the stations a few times and it wasn't on any of them. Her neighbour (who would be quite clued in) also told her it was a disgrace that he had to go down to the bookies as the race wasn't on the TV. He also has the same package from UPC.
Yet I know the race was actually on both C4 and RTE2, as I watched it on both stations myself (UPC Digitial Pack in Dublin 22).

Is it possible for this to be true, either by UPC showing different programs in different areas and not showing the horse racing program on RTE2 or C4, or perhaps some localised fault in their area at the time. FWIW she says there was no apparent problem in that there was something being shown on every station.

They want me to ring UPC and complain but it seems mad to me?

I watched it on Ch.4 HD via FTA satellite, Tracey Piggott was presenting a programme on RTÉ2 before I switched over Ch.4 so I assume it was on there too.

I watched it on RTE via UPC. There are no different versions of RTE that show different programming. Same for everyone in this country regardless of platform. The only difference is some people have HD while others have SD.

I believe Setanta and Racing UK (though the latter is a standalone premium channel) also showed it. Should have been hard to miss being on three of the first 11 channels on the UPC EPG. They're in the analogue pack too.

RTE take the Racing UK coverage these days. Big improvement.

As does Setanta, albeit with the largest full colour DOG in the known universe covering up the already large RUK logo.
