Seems to be quite similar to last year. Went myself last year, while I enjoyed it, I dont think there is enough new attractions to warrant going again. Maybe next year. I just hope they improve the merch selection this year, last year was so poor in that aspect!

    When are tickets out?

Id definitely have a few other things planned for the day Because you won't be in there for even 30-40 mins

'Ascend the Wall' anyone : http://gizmodo.com/the-oculus-rift-put-me-in-game-of-thrones-and-it-made-m-1510809083?

This would make me very keen to see the exhibition.

Yes I agree. While the items in the exhibition were well worth seeing and obviously sitting on the Iron Throne was great, overall it was disappointing how little there was and the merchandise was appallingly lacking.

They missed a serious opportunity to make money both on professional photos of you sitting on the Iron Throne and on the merchandise.

I also felt the Iron Throne wasnt very well lit for photos.

I think it was in order to make the person sitting on the Throne look extra menacing? :P Failed with me though, huge grin of delight on me

That throne looks like plastic and tinfoil.

    The throne cut me!

The displays were interesting.. But you only needed about 15 mins really. As said above it was shocking how little and poor the merchandise was. Cups, bookmarks, bottle openers and t shirts was all.

    .....

I also felt the Iron Throne wasnt very well lit for photos.

I was at the earlier exhibition in NYC and it was very much a TV show prop exhibit.....no merchandise at all. Which I was pleasantly surprised at.

The Iron Throne was well lit with pro photographer ready to take your pic:

It's not worth a 4 hour drive imo.

Is that the actual Iron Throne from the show? Looks crap.

Looking at art of the 'real' iron throne it seems like the kind of thing that'd leave your arse in tatters should you ever try to sit on it.

    Wasn't that the point(s)?

    Yep:

    http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Aerys_II_Targaryen
After repeatedly cutting himself on the Iron Throne he developed a phobia of blades, and forbade any sharp implements in his presence other than the swords of his Kingsguard, refusing even to trim his nails or hair. His fingernails grew to cracked yellow claws nine inches long; His beard was matted and unwashed, and his silver-gold hair hung down to his waist in wild tangles. His arms and legs were always covered with scabs and half-healed cuts from the Iron Throne. He wore the elaborate dragon-emblazoned crown of Aegon IV.

I managed to get past the queue and pick date/time and then it asks you to register. They could have mentioned that earlier and I would have done that in advance. I'd say that's adding to the length of time taking to process.
I got mine in the end but was in the queue for 20 mins first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,398 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Had them all sorted by 10 past 9....much easier than last year, but from the sound of it I got lucky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

anyone else gets in can they post the link to the registration page, might be a way to bypass the queue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Getting in no problem now, most of Saturday and Sunday are now gone though, went for Friday instead myself, hope I get to see it this year last year I had a seizure on the day and had to come home early.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 384 ✭✭connollys

finally got in, trying lots of different times on the thurs that they say are available but then get an error "There was an error whilst attempting to hold the requested seats: Unable to offer seats"

Anyone else see this? Am I doing something particularly stupid?

I can get in now but when i select a date that is not sold out an pick 2 tickets , it says an error has occured

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,959 ✭✭✭✭scudzilla

For those who didn't get tickets and didn't bother reading last years thread don't be worrying.

We had tickets and just walked in, there is also a queue for people with no tickets, there was nobody in it so they were just letting people in.

The next day we went back to go to the Titanic museum, when that had finished we popped back into the GoT exhibition, no ticket, no queue, no bother

Can anyone link up where you get tickets please? Getting as far as feckin nowhere searching on the phone here.....

If anyone has spare tickets for Friday or Saturday, please PM me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,283 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Just tried again to see what was left and these are now SOLD OUT.

If I don't for some reason think I can use my tickets I will pass them on here, can anyone else in the same position do the same as after the run around on that site today I am sure many missed out through frustration more than anything else.

I was in queue up until now. Finally gave up. No tickets for me this time. :(

My woman rang them, and been told everything's gone (40.000 tickets) in 15 minutes and no leftovers for phone booking. When she asked "what now", she's been answered to look up on ebay.

I tried last year and got nothing, same this year. Total joke!

is it true , that you don't need a ticket and can walk in off the street ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,198 ✭✭✭buckfasterer

I'm aware this isn't for ticket sales but if anyone could pm me if they come across any weekend tickets it would be brilliant!

They should have charged 5Euro per ticket, and when you get there you get given a 5Euro voucher to spend in the store

40,000 tickets gone, probably less than half will be used as people would have just got them because they were free

Or just charge a fiver and, you know, make a profit

You can definitely walk in off the street but you may not get in if its a very busy time or have a long wait.

When I went last year I had tickets and it wasnt busy at all when I got there and people were able to go right in but about half an hour later it was thronged and walk ins were queuing up. Presumably it went quiet again later on etc....

Go early and you will walk in no problem.
