What time do you get up out of bed on a typical day and why?

Is it because you naturally wake up at that time? Early/late start in work? Babies to feed? No babies to feed? Workout? Meditate? Medical reasons? etc etc....

I'm trying to change my bodyclock and it made me curious as to what's the norm.

    About 7 for work weekdays.

Weekends is quite variable somewhere between 8.30 and 11 usually depending on what's on or what I did the night before.

There's no norm. People get up at different times. Milkmen get up very early as they have frustrated Housewives to be servicing in the afternoon so need to complete their rounds quickly, Postmen get up early as they have nixers to complete in the afternoons and Jockeys would get up on the crack of dawn. Everyones different. I get up at 7.30, as it seems a nice round time to get up at. I'd prefer 8.00 though, tbh.

If you are not up out of the bed before 4am the day is gone, might as well stay in bed.

Dictated by when I need to be in college which is 10am most days except mondays when I don't start until 12.

Varies, sometimes I stay up all night and only go to bed about noon.

Usually half hour before I start work, so that can vary from 530am to 2pm. Maybe with the good weather ill get up earlier for the 230pm starts and see a bit of the day.

Up at 6 every day, that's the time I'm awake at so may as well get up.
It works out good at the weekend as I'm up an hour before the kids to I get a head start on them wrecking the gaff

6am to go for a jog, a chance to clear the mind and prepare for the day ahead.

Although realistically I could leave it till 9.

7:30 during the week to go to work. At weekends it can be anything; in recent weeks it's been about 10, but I've been known to lie in until about 12 or so. Always a bad idea because I end up with a headache for the day if I do.

6.30 - 7.00 every day thanks to my 2 year old. I used to stay in bed until 12 or so if I had nothing to do. Now, even if I get a lie in I can't sleep past 9 :(

Between 6am-6:50am alarm goes off at 6:50am, but I have a toddler so if we get past 6:30am I'm happy!

7 to get to work for 9. I give myself an hour in the morning to get ready which includes breakfast. Don't like rushing.

Around 7.15am every day including weekends. I now let my new dog out for a pee but I have being getting up at that time for years now. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed or if I'm hungover, I just have to get up as soon as I wake

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,379 ✭✭✭Skuxx

Usually 7 for me on weekdays, start work at 8! Weekends can vary a lot, if I'm on my own I'd usually be up around 8 or 8.30 and head to the gym,
If herself is over it'd be closer to 11 before we'd be up!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,691 ✭✭✭Lia_lia

Depends what shift I am on at work. At the moment I get up at 6.30. It's not bad because my boyfriend gets up for work at 5am so we go to bed early enough...

Days off I get up around 9.30ish.

I hate rushing in the mornings.

I get up around 7.15 - 7.30, leave the flat at about 8.45 for a 15 minute walk to Uni/work. At the moment I'm on leave and but keep to that timetable to get started in the morning, just to keep the routine going. It's too easy to lie in and watch old comedies all morning.

Weekends are tricky since I'm only coming home from my part time job at 8ish on Saturday morning and I'm still wrecked on Sunday, but all that's going to change soon and I'll have weekends again.

It varies from 8am to 11am, depending on what kind of day lies ahead. I'm in college so the early starts are often few and far between :o during the summer, 7:30 most days :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 171 ✭✭PatM65

4.25am for work on weekdays then usually have a lie-in until 7am at the weekend. I'm off tomorrow though so really going to push the boat out and stay in bed till 8.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,329 ✭✭✭✭Cienciano

Never mind midweek, weekend is the important one.
I get up at 7am cos of the kids. Usually get a lie in till about 10am on saturday or sunday, I get one lie in a week, which is heaven.

8am, if I'm not up before it or going to bed after it.

8:25 for 9am start for college Mon, Tues and Wed. I live only 10 mins walk away. :D

Every other day it's whenever I wake up.

    7.30 for work at 9.

If I'm left to wake up naturally il wake about 8.30/9.

Generally early riser I suppose, but if I have to get up super early or on very little sleep I be trembling and spend the first hour or so feeling like I'm gonna throw up.

    Dunno what that's about :/

Between 7.15-7.45, never hang around the gaff to make breakfast can't be arsed just have it in work.

Weekends assuming I don't have the young lad I can stay in bed till 1pm, hate getting up early, always have.

09:36 for work round 11:00 ish

    5.45am.

Breakfast, mindfulness, ablutions, exercise and a bowel movement. Morning is by far the most productive time of the day.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,616 ✭✭✭Fox_In_Socks

It can vary. Some weeks I'm good and up at 7, showered, eat fruit, then 10 minute drive in car to work. Other times it could be 8.15 before I peel myself from bed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Weekdays; either 6:30 or 8:30 depending on my shift.
Weekends; there is no normal wake up time.

I prefer sleep to not rushing. Don't get why people want to hang around the house in the morning.

In these replies nobody is getting up at the time I see the northern dart line at its busiest - ie getting into Pearse at 9 or 9:15. Depending where they are on the line that's reasonably getting up from 8 to 8:20.

Earlier trains are far less packed. I've had to do some.

Instead People are rising at 4:30 or 7 am for the gym. Or "cross training".

I feel asking adults about sleep is a bit like asking 15 year olds about sex. Except in reverse. I'm getting none is the macho answer.

My morning routine every single weekday from January 2012:
5.30am alarm goes, snooze till 5.40am, check emails till 5.50am, in car by 6.03am, at CrossFit by 6.12am for a 6.15am start.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,925 ✭✭✭✭anncoates

Generally get up any time between 7 and 830 depending on how tired I am. It takes about 50 minutes to get into work and I can start any time between 8 and 10.
