Lifting and cardio

Currently I play soccer two consecutive nights a week but I want to incorporate some gym work in the week as well. The lifts I'll be doing would be deadlift, squat and bench, along with press, chins, pull ups, dips etc. I'm looking at starting strength but is there anything else out there that I should be thinking about?

    My plan is:

    Mon: Off
    Tues: Gym
    Wed: Soccer
    Thurs: Soccer
    Fri: Gym
    Sat: Off
    Sun: Gym

Any issues with the above? Expect for the obvious soreness from squats etc when trying to run about :)

The soreness could be a big issue for you if you do legs the day before, which you will on SS. You might have to scale back to 2 days a week

    Mon: Gym
    Tues: Off
    Wed: Soccer
    Thurs: Soccer
    Fri: Off
    Sat: Gym
    Sun: Off

Take it from me but you should include time for stretching. Currently dealing with pesky hip flexors that I ignored for longer than I should have.

Thanks. Is it possible to do SS just 2 days? Don't remember reading that but I'll have a look later!

Thanks. Something I've neglected in the past. What stretches are you doing? I have a foam roller too which I've found useful recently.

Sure, SS is an A/B program - you can do it x2 a week with the A session on Monday and the B on Saturday - if you are not wrecked after soccer you could move the B to Friday instead to give you the weekend to recover.
