I have just received a quotation for €3500 for installation of a gas burner and associated pipework which considering the burner is only 5 metres from the meter seems very expensive. Priced the boiler online and it's less than €900 and Bord Gais only charge €249 to bring it in from the road so being charged €2400 approx for the work which seems very expensive. Any thoughts?

    Andy,
Not exactly answering your query but it is related.... Have you checked if you are entitled to any grants from SEAI? We upgraded our oil heating system a year ago to a new high-efficiency boiler & dual controls ( separate heating & water controls), and qualified for a grant.

    JT.
