When you last got good value for money

In an age where wages are coming down and the cost of goods and services are not, I think finding value for money in today's world is becoming increasingly difficult. At the weekend I rented a car in shannon airport(which is a requirement more than a luxury), and was very happy with the price and customer service. Anyway, for future reference I wondered if anyone could add to that :)

A religious themed sellotape dispenser that tells you exactly how much tape you've used. "You have used one inch of sellotape. God bless you"

No more left-over bits of tape. Doing my part for the environment

I always get amazing deals. Its all about waiting and researching. Like a pair of prescription ray ban glasses for €100 online which are €219 in an opticians here. Got my samsung Galaxy S4 for €350 new on amazon.co.uk

But the best is 48 mobile network. My friends all pay about €35/40 on a monthly contract for their phone. I only pay €10 PAYG for calls, texts and data. Plus Im going away for the entire summer meaning I not wasting money paying for a phone contract which I wont use

Got 2 nights with B&B & 1 dinner for 2 for €119 off one of the deal sites a couple of weeks ago. Seems like good value for money.

For a minute I thought that read 'dinosaur' instead of dispenser and wanted one immediately.

    Now, meh.

Was watching a solid oak dining table set worth over 2k slowly drop in price on the Austrian version of gumtree, beautiful set, always wanted one.

He said the set had to be gone by yesterday, I waited and called him to offer €200.
He, to my surprise accepted, got there expecting a middle aged man renovating his house or something.

A 19 yr old kid rich from daddy's money opened the door, needed 200 to go to a festival and told me his folks had bought him the table as a house warming, but he didn't need it.
    Sweet!
Enlisted ( bribed with beers) a few mates to help move it
( 206 kgs of wood) and it's now set up in my apartment.

Boring, but I fooking love it

$200 = €134 for eight home matches watching the Queensland Reds play the cream of southern hemisphere rugby.
Great seat in a superb stadium and free public transport on the day as well.

Got a pair of stiletto New Rocks about five years back, brand new, for 40 sterling (retailed at over 200 euro). Wore them a few times, then traded them for a corset custom made for me, which would have cost 200-300 had I paid. :)

For second hand or cheap books rather than paying full price, there are bargains downstairs of Hodges Figgis & Easons in Stephens Green SC (I think the only Eason branch with a discount section) and upstairs in Chapters on Parnell St.

Whenever you're in the UK or the North, check out "The Works" bookstores, I got loads of Thomas Cook mini city guides for 49p each reduced from £5.99!

I got a 16gb iPod Touch for €110. I had lost my own iPod and felt lost without it so it definitely served a purpose.

I broke the shít out of my laptop screen recently. Got it fixed perfectly and viruses cleaned off it for €90 by a fellow boardsie, definitely brilliant value for money!

I'm a huge fan of blind booking hotels through Priceline.

Just back from 3 nights in an excellent 4* hotel in downtown Minneapolis, for a little over €50 p/n.
