I'm looking to make a turkey curry that is low in fat. I want too make a batch to last a week or so. I'm following a low fat, low calorie diet. I have ingredients bought but am pretty clueless when it comes to the method. I'm doing an 8 week weightloss challenge in a gym and need to plan meals. I have:

    5 turkey breasts
    Tomato puree
    Mild tesco curry powder
    Onions
    fry spray
    Mushrooms/tomatoes

I hope to serve with brown basmati rice.

Any tips on how to make the curry?

    Thanks

Seeing as how it's low fat, I'd grill the turkey then cut it into small pieces before adding to the sauce.

    For the sauce:

Dice the onions nice and small and stir fry with mushrooms in some olive oil.

Add curry powder to some water bring to the boil while stirring.

Do you have tinned tomatoes? You could blend them (or regular ones).

Add curry sauce, blended tomatoes (not too many, you don't want it overpowering the curry) to the pan and heat.

Add chili powder (and whatever other spices you want) and tomato puree to consistency. Add the turkey and you're done.

Should be noted: that's how I'd personally do given what you have and what you're trying to achieve. :)

Turkey breast has only slightly less fat than skinless chicken fillets, if you prefer chicken I would stick with it.

these chicken fillets actually show less fat per 100g raw and more protein than the turkey

Rice has a fair amount of calories. Some people make a rice substitute from cauliflower. I use chopped raw cabbage to bulk things out.

Thanks for the advice I like turkey but might make next batch with chicken as I bought turkey today.

yeah, I don't know where this myth of turkey being so much healthier than chicken came from.
tastewise I don't know how people can eat turkey at all.

rubadubs chopped raw cabbage is a great suggestion. I throw it into all my stir fries now and I wouldn't go back to rice if I was paid to.

Enjoy some brown rice. Nothing wrong with it.

I too use white cabbage as well as it sometimes.

I use quinoa instead of rice when I make chicken curry.

    :(

Have you not been around here long enough to know that there is no need to follow a lot fat or low calorie diet, not unless you have been medically advised to do so. Follow a sustainable diet and you'll have more fun and better results.

    Debatable.

Low fat might work, it might not just as high fat might and might not.

I found lower fat much easier and better results wise in the past.

Experiment to see what works best for you OP.

If you are trying to reduce calories try Bulgar Wheat as an alternative to rice.
