What spelling / grammar mistakes do you always make?

What spelling / grammar mistakes do you always make?

I always instinctively write "who's"" instead of "whose" because it just feels more natural and makes more sense to me. I always have to go back and correct myself on it, but sometimes I don't even notice I've done it.

Sometimes my brain really is just not functioning - yesterday I was reading something and the word "decisions" came up and I just could not pronounce it. My attempts were "deshisions".... "deshisions" again and finally "deshizuns"... I eventually landed on "decisions" but it took me a scarily long time.

Few words I often have to double check. I think one is "conscientious"...
and viennese whirls... Mostly because firefox keeps telling me viennese is wrong, but I don't think it is.
    Mmmm, viennese whirls...

I completely dyslexic when it comes to 'its'. You've no idea of the mental anguish I went through just to type that, in my mind it shouldn't exist.

The most common mistake I make is typing "you" instead of "your". I've no idea why but when I proof check any typing it's nearly guaranteed to feature. The same cannot be said for "you're" as I seem to get that right.

Dublin people always use "yous" as "you", even through "you" is already plural. I have seen people regardless of social class and accent using both.

But the funniest has to be mixing up organism and orgasm. My biology would always get a few people talking about single celled orgasms

I say do be constantly when speaking but I would never use it in a letter or email in work

    I don't know if it's a mistake though

Does it be a mistake? :)

I had to google it there myself. "Seperate" isn't a word.

Discovered I was blissfully spelling 'occasion' and 'occasionally' incorrectly for decades, with two 's's instead of one. I nearly tried to delete autocorrect in disgust, when it informed me.

I get fierce confused with apostrophes at times too.

Can never figure out whether 'wierd' or 'weird' is the correct version. They both look correct to me. Although, autocorrect is telling me the former is the correct version.

I'm sure I make a lot of grammatical errors too, though I'm probably not aware of them. Ignorance is bliss! :p

I usually notice an error once I've hit 'Send' on an email, or submit a document, or submit a reply on here. Murphy's Law!

Ignore it! The latter is right. You must have a very weird autocorrect.

I can never remember the difference between "continuously" and "continually," and though I know the difference between "presume" and "assume," my brain thinks their meanings should be swapped.

Doh - you're correct - it was underlining the first one, which I took to mean that was the correct one. Oh, where's the 'when your brain switches off' thread again! :pac:

    Separate

    Definitely

There are others I just can't think of them. I'm picky on these things however, especially the there/their/they're one (They're over there spelling their names wrong).

Fucking impossible word is what it is. Look at this -
    Maneuver

Maneuver, manoeuvre, manoeuver, manœuver (also spelled, directly from the French, as manœuvre) denotes one's tactical move, or series of moves, that improves or maintains one's strategic situation in a competitive environment or avoids a worse situation.

Truth be told I'd be lost without the predictive text on my phone as it spells an awful lot of my words for me, but I'll still go back and double check my posts for mistakes when I get time.

Basically, "who" just for a person, "which" just for a thing, and "that" for both. So if in doubt, use "that."

Except if it's a non-stop defining relative clause, (extra information, between two commas, e.g. "A horse, which is an animal, eats grass.") and then you can't use "that."

I always end up with a 'sincereley' or something.
