Mine was Luke after St Luke, very imaginative.

Does anybody use their taken name as part of their full name, I add it in whenever I'm filling out forms, I like it it, it rings well with my two middles and first name. I can do cool initials with it.

You should not use your confirmation name on official forms, as it is not a registered name. Stick to you full name per your birth cert only.

I'll not state my confirmation name here as I know it is the only one of it's kind in the country and would give my anonymity away. I already have 4 names on my birth cert anyway.

Confirmation names are purely a religious thing, as in your new identity in Christ!

In my school you are told to just use your normal name as a confirmation name.

Though I never met anybody outside of Ennis who did that

    St Blaise.

Sounded cool. It's the blessing of throats which is ironic because I had serious throat problems and had to get my tonsils out.

Catholics only please. 90% of you on here were raised this way, you did your Communion and Confirmation and took a name, just give it to me and stop with the wisecracks, you're breaking my balls here.

Brendan after the navigator, thought it was boring until I heard Christy moore singing his song about him, how he sailed into Krugers and murdered pints of stout........some detail

I wanted to pick Raymond but the teacher said we had to write about the saint that we wanted to be named after. The thing is that I knew nothing about St. Raymond of if there even is one. In the end I just picked Brendan because he was the only saint I knew anything about.

What? I must have missed that lesson but it's 40 years ago for my anyway.

A saint you say? Anyway I already had a Saint's Christian Name until more recently when that Saint was made redundant.

    Joseph.
I hated it but my parents wanted it.

And no I refuse to use it as I don't believe in that crap anyway so why on earth would I use a name I wasn't born with.
I'm one of extremely few people I know who has no middle name and I kinda like that.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 26,403 Mod ✭✭✭✭Peregrine

They didn't have one where I did my Confirmation.

I think I have a baptismal name which is different from my first name so I guess that's kind of like your Confirmation names. Naturally, being 3 months old when I got it, I don't remember it.

Same but I always wished I had one.

Why did the two pigeons box the heads off each other?

Because one of them called Francis a sissy.
