he's like the grumpy man in every pub in the land that you laugh at but are slightly uneasy around

Old fashioned bigot I never found funny.

Whereas Michael McIntyre for example can be fcukin hilarious without offending anyone.

Toilet humour that appeals to simpletons who read the Daily Sport to keep up with what's happening. The fact that he is popular should serve as a warning that there are many worryingly dumb-as-sh1t people in the world.

He was no more a bigot than Al Murray is. It's a persona, just like Murray's Pub Landlord one. It actually takes the piss of xenophobes and racists as much as it does of fordiners etc... just a lot more subtly.

I'd say he's up there with the comedy greats, like Jim Davidson and Hale & Pace.

Aren't you thinking of Warren Mitchell/Alf Garnet? Roy Chubby Brown is nothing like that. He's a grade A creep in interviews, every bit as nasty as his stage persona.

And America's answer Andrew Dice Clay.

IIRC he was caught out on camera making racist remarks while not in character.

    Shit.. yes! :o

Come to think of it I don't think I've ever seen the Roy fella on TV or interviewed. Don't know why I mistook the two =/

He's very British, mainly the shyte parts I don't like. The non-Chubby Brown bits of Britain I like well enough.

What's funny is, in his early days his material was actually well regarded and a lot more clever. But he changed his act to what it's like today and found it sold. In a way, that makes him worse than the likes who don't know better; it appears he does but the act is put on because it makes him quite a lot of money.

He's as funny as that Australian that sings the stupid songs.

Yeah I never really got the appeal of Dice Clay, I like blue and edgy comedy but his stuff imo is all shock and no wit. He'd huge success though, the only comic in history to sellout Madison Square Garden. Did it two nights running to boot.

I'd say he cares what people think -he's making them laugh - all the way to the bank. Personally, I can take or leave him. I can't get past the idea that he's just schlocking out a schtick to make a buck.

I never ever ever thought I would see Conall Gallen compared to Roy Chubby Brown. Ever.
