    PUBLISHED 14 FEBRUARY 2014 02:30 AM

The telecoms regulator, Comreg, is set to consider expanding wireless spectrum frequencies to allow more digital television stations and mobile broadband services here.

Comreg is seeking to make more use of some UHF band frequencies, which are currently not allocated to existing television, radio or communications providers.

It is to consider allocating parts of this UHF band to organisations involved in digital television output and to communications firms interested in providing different forms of mobile broadband.

The regulator is inviting interested parties to apply for a 'test and trial' licence in relation to UHF spectrum.
