What theme should I use for my WordPress blog about productivity and technology

I want to encourage my email sign ups and I'm strongly considering Balance by Studiopress. I like my current theme but a number of people have told me there's a lot of wasted vertical space and that the call-to-actions in the footer are too hard to find. Thanks

Maybe you need the signup near the header too.
Or have a popup signup form that appears after a minute (ElegantThemes does it)
