    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has used this programme, and what their opinion on it might be, for example, is there too many rest days, should it be (roughly) a three month programme, etc.

I'm 5 foot 11, weigh just under 13 stone, and would love to firm up/ become more lean....diet is good, not great, and that is certainly a work in progress.

    Thanks!

Speaking from experience, a well structured diet is more important than your training program.

    Hi there,

Try looking at Mike Mathews Fitness (put this into Google) , great program based on diet, cardio and weights, five days per week, each body part done separately each day, giving a weeks break between working it out again.

Started this 2 years ago, was then same height as you, 16 stone and 36 waist, now I'm 14 stone 33 waist size, strong as hell and abs showing through, feel great.

The workouts are only around 30-45 minutes a day, 3 sets of 6 reps per exercise, it's all about adding gradual weight each week or two, e.g. started deadlifting 35-40kg, now up to 160kg.

Worth looking at, you can get the book on Amazon for about 8 euros, and you'll get a whole year plan once you register with him for free online. Tried loads of other programs but this one is by far superior to all the rest. Covers diet etc. And you can still have your 'cheat' meals every so often.....pizza is my vice.

Hope this helps and best of luck, it'll be well worth it, oh yeah age is no barrier either, I'm 41 and had given up all hope of ever seeing a six pack!!

Icf 5x5 is a good beginner strength program with some accessory lifts for vanity muscles.
It's a 3 day full body programme with a progressive load. you will need the rest days to recover as the weights will soon become heavy.

But it will be your diet rather than the actual programme that will dictate if you get lean or not.

If you're not eating the right amounts then you'll not lose weight or body fat. Icf 5x5 will help get stronger tho. And Jason blaha does know his stuff, even if he is a bit antagonistic.

Pick any beginner programme. Stick with it consistantly and eat correctly to see the results you need.
