Your best kiss?

Inspired by this, which has just given me serious goosebumps:

What's the best kiss you've ever had? What were the circumstances leading up to it, was it with a stranger, in a relationship, with someone you kind of knew? What happened in your head in that moment, and where, if anywhere, did things lead after that electric moment?

I love kissing and on thinking about it, it's hard to single out just one moment.

Most likely it was with my ex when I lived in Toronto. We were in the same social circle for ages before anything happened, he was a friend of another ex of mine so it didn't seem likely that anything would ever transpire between us. Although I had a serious, crazy, all-consuming crush on the guy.

I went home for Christmas and hadn't seen him for a while, and when I came back he asked me out for sushi one snowy evening. Both of us were completely unsure what was going on (think "is this a date?" "I don't know. Is it?" :) ) We sat there chatting away like best buddies, laughing, catching up, and then he walked me to the subway station and we sort of stood there staring at each other awkwardly.

And then all of a sudden we were kissing, passionately, crazily, standing outside in the snow just lost in each other like a pair of lovestuck teenagers. It was one of those kisses that never seemed to stop and just grew in intensity with every second, and when he eventually walked away I remember standing on the sidewalk feeling light-headed, dizzy and giddy, not sure of what had just happened.

He subsequently turned out to be one of the biggest dickheads I've ever dated :D But I think that kiss was what kept him inside my head and prevented me from walking away when I rightfully should have for so long.

Other memorable kisses were with a stranger I had met hours previous in New York, we went for a stroll around Central Park at ridiculous AM and wound up wrapped around each other on a bench watching the sun come up.

Or with my current bf, who I wasn't quite sure about until we found each other staring intensely at each other in a random after hours bar in London. That first kiss changed everything. He kisses like a fcuking bad-ass.

    God, kissing is deadly.

Best kiss to day - current guy I am seeing. Amazing energy!

I am working on a theory that a good kisser is also a great sex. Bad kisser - quite the opposite (edit:meaning-bad sex). Haven't got a chance to test many but so far it agrees to what I've experienced so far with ex's and the current :D

As cheesy as it sounds it was probably my first kiss with my girlfriend over 10 years ago. We'd been having a "will they won't they" thing for months (which was annoying all our friends apparently!) and had been on a college weekend away. Lots of flirting, lots of silliness and all of a sudden at the end of the night we ended up in that classic staring at each other "are we about to kiss???!!???" way and someone jumps in and we had to take a group photo.

    :mad::mad::mad:

It wasn't until 3 hours later we were finally alone and could go for it. It was my first time kissing another woman and it was so amazing. I actually didn't sleep for the entire night, I couldn't. She didn't suffer from such emotions () and can sleep trough thunder so she just slept all night curled into me, obviously fully dressed.

She's an incredible kisser though, so pretty much all my kisses since have been awesome. Lucky me! :p

The five seconds before first impact with my ex, the hair on the back of my neck was practically standing on end and I thought my heart would burst. Just lips, no tongues or escalation, but still the most erotic and tender minute or so of my life so far. I'm not sure why that is, but it just is.

There is nothing like being left wanting to indelibly etch something on your memory, and I will never forget the yearning and fulfilment of those moments. Just thinking about it now makes my heart break a little.

    With my current boyfriend.

We'd had a sort of friendship for ages, in that everyone thought we were dating, but we'd never even so much as hugged.

One drunken night, i admitted my feelings.

Next day, i was waiting for my bus to work, playing with my phone. Felt someone near me, looked up and it was him. I said 'hi' in a really awkward way, going bright red. He walked over to me, wrapped his arms around me and held me like that for ages, before leaning down and kissing me REALLY gently.

Still get a fuzzy feeling when I think of that, and we've been together since. Not as gentle with the kissing anymore :pac:

3 stand out in my mind. I met an American guy on my J1 13 years ago (13 years ago!! Holy fooook!). He was absolutely gorgeous and in my 21 year-old-mind, cool as The Fonze. He looked like a young Brad Pitt with lovely, big lips and I fancied the arse off him. He'd call over to our flat to see me and hang out and I remember one kiss we had in the lobby of the building as he was leaving that must've went on for about an hour. Nothing but kissing. I still remember the blood rushing through my veins and the insatiable feeling that I couldn't get enough of him. We went out for that Summer and did long distance for 2 years (and saw each other only 4 times in that time) until it was time to move on.

The second one was an Irish ex in London who I met on a night out and invited back to my friend's house for more drinks.I don't think I've fancied anyone more on first viewing. We sat up talking when everyone went to bed and there was the anticipation of the inevitable kiss that I love at the early stages and I was the one who eventually went for it. I remember time stopping and all sounds being blocked out as we kissed. It was very powerful and the chemistry was flowing. We broke up nine months later and "coming off" the chemistry was the hardest part.

Finally, the current guy. On our first date, we ended up in a club at the end of the night and had this massive, long kiss against the wall of the club like a pair of teenagers and I remember thinking how consumed in the moment he was. He was so into it and the feeling was the same one I had in the lobby in Chicago with the American. It was the first time I'd felt those kinds of butterflies for anyone while kissing since the Irish ex above 5 years previously and I remember thinking how I'd hit the jackpot with a guy I got on so well with and also fancied. We'll be together 3 years at the end of the month.

It wasn't some cheesy romantic gesture though, it's just really simple and heartfelt which is my favourite kind of romance. ;)

I remember a good few years ago I was dating a guy (we are still friends) and we were out and about for a walk around town one night. We walked down the Boardwalk on the Liffey - it was still new and interesting then :D - and we were the only ones there. He asked if he could hold my hand. I said of course but that he didn't need to ask, it would really be nice if he just seized the moment and did it without asking permission. He then pulled me in to him by the hand he'd just held. I was so caught by surprise and spun in to him, we were laughing and kissing at the same time. That's probably the most romantic one I have had but have been a few good kisses :D

I think I might have posted mine before - it wasnt actually a kiss, but a pre-kiss.

I'd known him for ages had always liked him, though never saw him in a romantic way, but hadn't seen him around for a while. When he came back on the scene, he had been working in construction and was all tanned and fit. We ended up in a friends house, in a group having drinks who one by one, sloped off to bed/home until there were three of us left. One guy passed out fell asleep on the floor, I'm on the sofa and himself in an armchair.

About halfway through the night I wake up and see him rubbing his neck, so told him he could share the sofa with me, assuming he would spoon. Instead he faced me, and for hours on that little sofa, it seemed, we had that delicious moment just before you kiss, before you make a move towards the other person, that moment where you don't know whether or not they want to kiss you but you badly want to kiss them. Where you stare into each others eyes and your groin twangs and you wonder how soft their lips are, where you are dizzy from their scent. Both of us were so hesitant to cross the line between friends and more-than-friends that on and off we snoozed, our lips inches away from each other suspended in that moment until the morning. Seriously, seriously erotic.

We are nearing a decade later and a baby, engagement ring and millions of proper snogs later, its still the stand-out best 'kiss' I never had! :pac:

I was half seeing someone else, in a LDR. We'd been introduced by mutual friends& there was a great sense of ease. It was a match in the old-fashioned sense, steady& reliable & mature. Everyone knows sparks always fade over time anyway. Also, I wasn't a teenager anymore- it was time to grow up, be realistic.
Then an old acquaintance who I hadn't seen in years asked to meet me. We went out, had a bite to eat, a few drinks. Mid-conversation, out of the blue, he leaned over to kiss me.
Only 2 seconds, but there were butterflies.
The conversation went on as normal, as though nothing had happened, except he continued to intersperse it with these kisses, like punctuation marks.
That first kiss made me realise that I had been wrong about everything- I needed butterflies. I liked them. And I wasn't too old for them.

First kiss with the guy I'm currently seeing, walked me home after our first date, had a lovely gentle kiss and halfway through he brushed my hair off my face and then held his hand on my face really lightly and then traced his fingers along my jaw kind of, can't describe it but I actually felt my knees go weak :o
We still spend ages kissing all the time, so nice :)

I was 19 and had moved to Dublin and the girl who trained me was 23, we got on really well and all but she had a bf and she was a bit out of my league. We used to go for lunch together and meet up over the weekend etc. mid November I was walking to town from IFSC and asked her stupidly how to tie a scarf, being 6’1 and her being 5’4 she was so cute and I almost stole a kiss but thought she’d kill me. For weeks there was flirting until one evening in town I went to get xmas presents and gave her the present I had bought. It was the book her granny used to read to her when she was small, and inside it had an inscription saying in memory of your Nana, she welled up and I got embarrassed. Walked from Jervis back to Connolly and on the walk home she just kept smiling, giggling and then apologising, finally I said we weren’t going any further till she told me what was so funny and she pulled my scarf off and said I tied it wrong as she started tying it again we kissed. This was 10 years ago and it was possibly the most intense moment of my life.

    1. Anthony bloody Richardson. I was 18. He was 17. I saw stars when he kissed me. Every inch of skin on my body felt like a live wire crackling in the rain - it was that intense. He was also the biggest dickhead in the history of dickheads.

    2. Liban. I was 20 and he was 24. All the oxygen left my brain when he kissed me. Rational thought? What? After our first date, sharing a cab home, he leaned in and kissed me and I completely forgot to get off at my stop. I only realised we had gone past by about 5 km when the cabbie informed us that we were waay past where we had said was to be our first stop.

    3. Nathan. I can't think about him without feeling like I am about to self combust. Even now my body sizzles with the memory. *stopping to fan myself* By jove that boy (because I can't call him a man) could kiss! HE was 21 to my 28. The very first time we kissed, we were in a lift going up to his apartment when out of the blue, he turned towards me, and completely surprised me by bending down to kiss me. I lost all power of speech and didn't, couldn't protest when he lifted me (I wouldn't normally be a fan of being lifted) and carried me out of the lift, through the corridor to his apartment and straight to his bed. He might be, nay, he is the only mistake I don't regret :D.

    Kissing is the business .

Night out with buddies when all of a sudden I get a notification I've a message on okcupid. Was from a girl I was chatting with on the site asking if I was out in town. Said yeah but heading for a late night feast. She asks if I'd like to go for a walk. Considering we never met in person I was dubious, but said 'fúck it'. We met up near Jervis and walked along by the church nightclub and sat looking at the increasingly drunk people sauntering up and down the road.

We chatted for about an hour. I gave her my coat because she was freezing. She mentioned it a few times afterwards and I finally got the hint she wanted my arm around her. Did so and chatted further. Was comfortable and didn't seem out of place. We were chatting away and she leaned in. I did too. We kissed. A lot. I'm sure others have experienced it but when our lips met it felt electric. It was amazing. Goose bumps, hair on end. The works. That real intense feeling.

I offered to walk her home and she obliged, which was nearby. Exchanged numbers. Messaged her the next day but never got a reply. That was about a year ago. It was short, intense and I will never forget it.

Anytime there is talk of what your best kiss was, I always think of this quote from Hearts in Atlantis (and sorry if somebody has already mentioned it) :

It will be the kiss by which all others in your life will be judged... and found wanting.

My first girlfriend, kissed me once, and I will always remember it. I don't know what exactly happened. Whether it was a question of technique or chemistry. It just was amazing. I felt it throughout my body. I never thought a kiss could be like that.
