    Unfortunately you have two options,

    1. Find a job.

    2. See option one.

Emigrate. There's nothing for you there.

Are there any relatives who could help you out? What if you qualify as independent to your parents? Try a Citizens Information office.

Look forward to inheritance and suck it up, no really don't mean that. Enhance your CV either by doing something related to your qualification or good deeds.

FIrst you need to figure out which forums are helpful and which will cause people to take the piss out of you.

My partner is in a similar boat, no job and no dole. It sucks.

    Two choices really:

    Get a job

    or

    Get the dole.

Have you not coped it by now? The people who pay the most taxes and foot all bills/fees without assistance get shafted and end up living the same existence as those who live on freebies.

It ain't fair but it's Ireland.

You're too late OP, we already have this weeks sponger thread, in fact we have a few of them on the go right now. Move out of your parents attic and go live under a bridge or something.

    1. Be thankful you have a place to live is the first thing you should do.
    2. Go out on the streets and hunt down a job.

Learn to pull a pint and make coffee.
You can make sandwiches can't you?
    You can mop floors.
You can stack boxes, and work a cash till.

You'll find something if you persevere.

    Good luck.

Take to gumtree and local noticeboards, you should come across bits and bobs - gardening, flyering, clearing and cleaning, to give you an income while you search for a job, any job, don't be getting any notions that an education puts you above the bottom end of the employment market.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,652 ✭✭✭I am pie

When I finished college I applied for around 300 jobs, applying for jobs was my job.

I applied for them anywhere in the world I could work legally or could get a visa sponsored.

If that fails over a longer period of time think about what you actually want to do and do some voluntary work in that field.

Not one single employer gives one single fck about your parents, your debt or anything not related to your ability to do the work you might be paid for. Seriously. Some people here might, but no one who'll pay you a monthly wage will.

Tighten up and get busy looking. Everywhere.

Sounds like your folks are part of the pay for everything entitled to nothing demographic. Probably self employed and middle class, people who the gubbermint don't give a hoot about.

What did you study in? Travel for a few years would be my advice.

Did you try looking for an internship through job bridge? I know it's come in for a lot of slack but it could be viewed as a stepping stone to a job

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,261 ✭✭✭7ofBrian

Job Bridge should NEVER be considered a stepping stone to a job. Its a ****ing scam that allows employers to hire free labour!

On paper your dads rich you say? Surely you can tell him to sell one of his assets to keep you going. Sure you will end up inheriting it anyway. Can he not give you a job?
What happened to people of entitlement saying things like I wouldnt be caught dead signing on. Imagine being down in the dole office queing with the ordinaries. Like in the same que as them not in a seperate que. Theres nobody even there to stop que skipping its every scrounger for oneself.
Sure you never even worked up any stamps. Free education then ye want free money.
You will have to wait until you are 25 your not man enough for the dole que yet kiddo. They will just keep skipping you.
You want prison free roof food and gym sorted. No daddy pretending to have no spondoolos for you there. The only daddy you get is the one who comes at you from behind all rumpy pumpy and veiny bulgy.
    Got way carried away there.
Lets look at your problem. Dad is rich. Wants the state to support you. The state isnt even rich on paper at the minute. Its a tough world but tough times come and go in life. Onwards and upwards.

If you want serious advice go to the state benefits forum. Are you still living at home? If you aren't you should be entitled to the dole.

Volunteer my scrotum, i personally have tried to volunteer in probably all of the tv production companies in ireland, 'we have nothing available at the minute, send us your cv and we will get back to you' a while later you try again and they ask for your cv again, they obviously don't even look at the cv in the first place. I need to go to the states and get involved in the adult movie business

Start your own business. Think of somthing you can do, that others will pay you to do, and do it. Rule out nothing, if you are serious, from pulling weeds, painting gates, clearing gutters, cleaning windows, whatever. There has to be somthing you are good at. If there isn't, you're good for nothing, and, well, err, umm..

When Bill Gates wanted to develop his new operating system, 'Windows 1.0' he pitched the idea to IBM and they said, 'nothing available'. He went to Linux and they said, 'Sorry, not interested'. He went to Apple and they wouldn't even let him in. Google ignored his letters and his e-mails.

    He didn't quit though.

He went to Microsoft every day, he'd walk with the CEO from the parking lot to the door of the building and pitched his idea. Finally, after nearly three months, the CEO of Microsoft said, 'Okay, you've got two minutes'.

Microsoft bought Windows later that month.

That's what this generation is missing. Determination.....drive.....persistence.....

What?! Google did not exist and Gates co-founded Microsoft. Is that post sarcastic or something?

Edit: Linux and Apple didn't exist either :pac:

    EDIT:

Sorry - you are 100% correct. I'm just frustrated with the current state of the economy and hearing people say, 'Well, just apply for jobs! Be creative! Make your own opportunities'

    My post was retarded.

but because on paper my parents seem rich
Genuine question, what the government deem rich here, is it anything over E32,800? Seeing as they take over half your earnings at this level, it would make sense to me... It has to be the country with the worst work / reward ration in the developed world. Dont do anything, get everything on a plate, actually contribute a lot in taxes, we will have that thank you very much and as as a thank you, you will actually lose a lot of benefits in return
Sounds like your folks are part of the pay for everything entitled to nothing demographic. Probably self employed and middle class, people who the gubbermint don't give a hoot about.
You know I had two self employed parents, yet loads of my mates parents werent self employed, but yet earned the same if not better money, am I rich and they average?

Cannot get the dole? claim disability with a bad back.

Getting the dole but can't get a job? Do nixers. As to what kind of nixer... Down to the individual.

Have a job but not getting much money? Do nixers on the side.

Life isn't fair. Work the system.
I know I am being very outspoken by saying all that. But hey, as I say, life isn't fair.
