You're a bit early Ste, but why not :)

Supreme Novices Hurdle: Vautour for me in this, I reckon it has stronger form than Irving. The victory over The Tullow Tank for me confirmed that this is a horse that is only competing in this race for political reasons. I missed the really juicy double digit prices, but am happy enough to be on at 4/1.

Arkle Chase: But for the fact that Dodging Bullets was beat LTO over ground that it hated, I think this horse would probably be among the favourites for this race. The English horses have a good record in this race and I am generally not a fan of Willie Mullins horse over fences, so Dodging Bullets looks one of the best contenders for me.

Festival Handicap: Bookies benefit race if I ever saw one. Will not be going anywhere near this unless I get a strong word.

Champion Hurdle: The most hyped race of the festival and I am going to go completely out on a limb and say that Hurricane Fly won't even finish. The horse is an absolute legend, BUT I have a feeling that the pace at Cheltenham will be fast and if The Fly is pressed, I think he will struggle and reckon there's a very good chance he'll be pulled up. I don't know who wins this, but I would be inclined to go with My Tent Or Yours for the simple fact that it's the biggest priced horse that has a realistic chance of winning (in my eyes at least).

Mares Hurdle: I've already said that Hurricane Fly won't even finish, so why spoil a party? Quevega won't win either. I can't say that with as much conviction as I would with Hurricane Fly since the field isn't that strong, but for a 10 year old mare to win this kind of race on what I would expect to be more good than soft at 4/6 just seems crazy. Cailinn Annamh at 16/1 for me has a chance at toppling the favourite, although I suspect something completely unexpected could come out of the field to win this.

National Hunt Chase: Have to wait and see the final declarations. Same for the last race.

Are you not worried about their one account per household blah blah blah, imagine having loads of winners and them voiding them all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 713 ✭✭✭newuser89

    Wicklow brave for the supreme
As his price is twice that of vautour and I think they've a similar chance.

Rock on ruby for the arkle,he's at his favourite course on his favourite ground and has done nothing wrong since he went chasing, even though he barely had a opponent .
He should race handy so I don't see that as a problem .
If he jumps well he wins well in my book

The new one in the champion hurdle,I've looked back over his races and impressed with his turn of foot, also his proven stamina and liking for the course

Would that work do you not have to have your bank account details the same as your address?

Who would have thought a couple of weeks back they would be debating whether to water the course or not

I don't think payment providers can check this 100% as every website would have different addres formats.

Prime example - you could move house or be renting and move every 6 months. Just make sure the card is different

    No that's a myth.

You can make up random address anywhere you like.

Anyone get a picture of the potential cut for Tuesdays handicap races yet?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 536 ✭✭✭Ray Mond

Was always gonna back Irving from a few runs back but never got in ante post. Think hes way too short now but ill see.
Friend of a friend knows Barry Geraghty and he was told to back Vaniteux ,they're expecting him to go very close.
    Cant not back The Fly.
Quevega should do the job again.
Will prob back Trifolium but Champagne Fever Cheltenham form is telling me other wise.
If a couple of them win ill prob back Foxrock.

So far for me for day one is

    Vautour
    Dodging Bullets
    Our Connor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 395 ✭✭handsfree

    vautour & vanitaux on PP
    trifolium
    No bet
    our conor
    no bet
    foxrock
    rompford pele

I'm a bit worried that I've so many irish horse's chosen for Tuesday and the rest of week. .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,205 ✭✭✭Gringo180

Is it money back or money back as a free bet on the offer with PP in the supreme.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 supa_stench

I know it seems fanciful but I think its possible Mullins/Walsh could have a serious red letter day on Tuesday. Ruby didn't leave Paul Nicholls yard without knowing Mullins had some serious up and coming horses all geared towards Cheltenham. Traditionally the Irish do very well on the Tuesday..........

    Vatour
    Champagne Fever
    Hurricane Fly
    Quevega

Accum pays out at 121/1 or at least it did last week so presume it hasn't changed much since. If the first two roll home the last two are penalty kicks IMO.

A lucky 15 that could prove beneficial.........

    Oscar Whiskey in the JLT
Big Shu in the X country
    Benifficent in the Ryanair
Annie Power in the Stayers hurdle (such a better title than the poxy world hurdle)

Just lamped €500 on my tent or yours with Ladbrokes. Giving money back if Hurricane fly wins or comes second!

It's max 25, you would have needed to do it in 20 shops or 20 different bets

Sorry yeah i should have clarified that it is. I did separate bets 2x€25 on 2 "family"accounts :D and the rest on my own account. Really fancy him to pull this off and hoping this will be my good start to the festival.

Edit: Didn't know was extended to shops just did online.

Just checked it there, I told them to **** off during the week. I hadn't used them probably since last year and couldn't remember my login and after three emails asking for it to be reset they wanted me to ring them

Will have a few trips in Ladbrokes to top up on Our Conor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 supa_stench

When a bookmaker offers cash back if finishing 2nd to Hurricane Fly is it there way of saying that they expect Hurricane to win and are thus trying to get punters to back something else thereby limiting losses on hurricane?

Don't be fooled by this ploy. Lump on the Fly with all you got.

Was the same, tried to log into old account (not used in god knows how long) and they said my account was closed and need to ring CS. Just set up a new account and was sorted. Got €15 free bets and put it on Kaysersberg at 10/3 :D

My understanding is it's a €25 refund even if it's the win part of an each way bet, could be tempted to do a few €25 ew bets on Our Conor, if The Fly finishes first or second and Our Conor finishes in the top three (which he will) you get yourself a free €20.

    Is this right?

Hurricane Fly won't win.....the Tent will win on the bridle even with a crocked leg.

free bet as opposed to refund which I'd expect from laddies

Hurricane Fly Champion Hurdle money back special
    Cheltenham Festival – Tuesday 11th March 3.20pm
If Hurricane Fly finishes first or second in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, Ladbrokes will refund all losing single bets on that race, as a free bet, up to £/€25

Max refund per race will be £25.

Applies to bets placed on the William Hill mobile site (web and native applications) via mobile devices.

Applies to all races taking place across Cheltenham Festival 2014 (11th – 14th March).

Going for Rock on Ruby in the Arkle. Possibly doubling up with HF. The Fly is my banker of the week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 423 ✭✭wesleysniper38

Sorry to deviate but if I have 20 x €25 bets on any other horse and HF finishes 1/2nd I assume that I will have to place my 20 x 25 free bets seperately....not all together on an odds on favourite in a 5f sprint..

Anyway heres my bets for Tuesday

    1.30 Vautour win
    2.05 Champagne Fever win
2.40 Indian Castle e.w (if running)
    3.20 HF (I'm well on this one)win
    4.00 Cockney Sparrow e.w.
4.40 Foxrock win (well on also)
5.15 Baby Mix e.w. (if running)

Good luck to all, and remember, there's no certainties in life or racing!

But not quite the same here -they are effectively laying the Fly saying that they will refund all bets if he finishes in the first two.

    Wicklow Brave
    Champagne Fever
    Time for Rupert

Dodging bullets 2pts win on the day with bruce betting money back if 2nd to ruby.
Annacotty 1/2pt ew only for interest.
Our conor 3pts win with ladbrokes if their price is not terrible waiting for day.
Quevega 4pts win if can get him at evens on day.
The romford pele 14/1 1pt ew.

Not a busy Tuesday for me..

I think Western Boy is the value bet in the supreme. Big fan of his bumper form and his run behind Vautour gives him a squeak. Will back with Powers to avail of their 2,3,4 refund.

After much thought(too much), I've gone for Hurricane Fly in the Champion. I just feel I'm happy to take 3s about one who's been there and done it twice before. I don't fancy MTOY, but think TNO and Our Conor are fully entitled to take their chance. Ruby Walsh could ultimately be the deciding factor coming up that hill, with plenty of question marks over Mullins and Twiston Davies.

    Best of luck all!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,226 ✭✭✭qwabercd

    1.30 - Vautour & Wicklow Brave.
    2.05 - Rock on ruby.
    3.15 - HF
    4.00 - Quevega (Coral offer @ 4/1)

May add a few in the other races.

    Josses Hill E/W
    Trifolium
    My Tent Or Yours

Is all I've decided on at the moment. Very confident of Trifolium in the Arkle.

I think the winner of the opener is gonna be a big price. Vatour and Irving are overrated animals and really don't see either of them winning.

Will have a look at that race in more detail tomorrow night.

I'm going to have a nice bet on The Liquidator, his performance at Cheltenham in November was impressive, not so much because of what he beat but the way he did it. Visually it was the performance of that meeting. He has a high cruising speed & he devoured the hill basically on the bridle.

4th in the Champion bumper last year, goes well fresh, before he bombed on his last run he was actually 7/1 favourite for the Supreme, a quick pace will suit him big time. At 20/1 he's worth a bet against the 2 at the top of the market - they're both a mind boggling price.
