Don't think he is qualified for any race at Cheltenham, he needs to win and even then he's not guaranteed a place. I think I read that somewhere. There's also the small matter of a 100 grand bonus for winning the imperial cup and any Cheltenham race

Very very strange that he is drifting like that...he's a machine. His loss this year came at the hands of the one of the hottest 3mile novices this season.
For a JP horse drifting from 2's to 4's rings all the wrong alarm bells to me

Taking a chance on one tomorrow. Master of the Hall at Ayr, rank outsider of the field at 14/1 but he shaped much better than the result suggests last time out, weakening three out but had gone well up to then. Down to 2 1/2 he is very well handicapped on chase form.

I opened them the other week and stuck 20 on briar hill, cash back if he loses. They are on oddschecker so should be ok.

I backed him with the offer, might be money for Nicholls horse but Mc Coy V Jacob.

He will need to go up 7lbs or more to get into a race and if that is the plan he will win like he is entitled to.

He can only go up five if he wins

Regal Encore has loads in hand but the form of the yard is a huge concern.

How so? If he wins 30L hard held he will only get a 5lb rise?

They can only get a penalty for the win.

Honeyball is very good at getting horses fit & this race has been the aim all along so don't worry about fitness. In order to qualify for Friday he has to win tomorrow. I've backed him for both the Martin Pipe & the County hurdle & he'll win whichever he goes for. I'd rather he go for the Martin Pipe as the County is a messy race & I fear he'll be bullied about a bit. If he does win tomorrow he's one of the best handicapped horses of the festival. How he's only rated 130 I'll never know, forget his last run at Hexham - Honeyball had a virus in the stable before Christmas & hasn't had many runners recently. He's setting up for a big few weeks though & it all starts tomorrow. Regal Encore will take some stopping tomorrow & on Friday.

    (Hopefully)

    Cheers, good spot.

Gone with the risk free bet on Swing Bowler. Nice run in the Betfair after a year off, more to come hopefully.

I think horizontal speed in the 2.05 is a fantastic e/w bet,I got 8/1 last night.
Can't see him out of first 4

    3:25 Sandown

This looks a poor enough renewal and I’m going with one near the bottom of the handicap with the prevailing soft ground. Gassin Golf has been somewhat of a disappointment since he went over hurdles but has a couple of performance’s which make his current mark look within his grasp. He was a good 2nd at Punchestown with a couple of 130 horses around him and 121 looks to give him a decent shout here. He ran a decent race last time out on his handicap debut when it didn’t look like he stayed the trip and the drop back here really should suit. He has drifted to 12/1 and that looks a bit of value.

    1 Point win 12/1 Various

Also on this. Was going to launch into regal encore but the drift is absolutely baffling...disregarding the stables past few months they have said the horses have turned a corner at home. He should be too classy for this lot but why no money. Disappointed as I've backed him for the county a few weeks ago ..he must be out for a spin. Gassin gold and skint (small) are the ones im on.

I know the big two have other days as bigger targets and they are returning from a layoff but I would be very surprised if either Shea Shea or Sole Power didn't win this. I would be inclined to go for Shea Shea seeing as he won last year and because of the trainer. Very fearful of Sole Power all the same. Been running very consistently at the top level the last few years.

Not a penny for regal encore

I have followed the hunt on the tips thread for some extra loot for the war chest next week. Easter Hunt my only bet today. Each way. I don't fancy the front two in the market at all and his art of payroll 2nd reads rather well now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭jimjamcos

Availed of BetBrights offer and backed Regal Encore. Not overly confident but he's got to have something serious in hand and trainer seemed very bullish on The Morning Line. Big field and pace will suit and horse who turned him over lto has proven very decent.

Swing Bowler or Regal Encore would pad the Cheltenham coffers nicely.

Say the site has gone nuts with people trying to take them up on the offer id say.
Happened to me earlier, just keep trying.

Fancy Marie de ja la in the 4.30 in Chepstow. Usually performs at fontwell for his wins but given the track has been abandoned due to floods the past month never got to show. Tom cannon is travelling from sandown to Chepstow for this ride and her run in kempton last year should put her in the mix at a nice price of 7-1. Requin also takes the eye for me at 5.35 at Chepstow

My hatred for Tom scudamore grows...
No doubt in my mind he cut the challenge off..but not as if anything is going to be done

Regal Encore isn't as well handicapped it would seem! Came there but was well beaten.

They should re name that the Pipe Hurdle instead of that one at the festival, 9 times now they've won it, serious record

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

Refund money already credited from Betbright, fair play to them for being on the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭jimjamcos

Hard luck lads! Regal finds little by the looks of it!

Bar the wide margin winning Briar Hill, the form of last years Bumper looks questionable. A worry for us Golantilla backers..

I'll be sick if that Gigginstown horse wins, Mouse Morris trains it an it's getting backed
