I knew your man who led the gang that rick hid from under the bed would show up again. Jeff Kober is too good an actor for them to bother casting him for a 5 minute scene in one episode. I wonder will he bring out Daryl's dark side. :P

I was a little bored by the Maggie/Bob/Sasha thing. I feel like the ground they covered could have been done in half the time. Too many long pauses and pointless scenes eating up time.

really enjoyed that one, Bob's character needed some fleshing out.

Poor Beth, just when Daryll was gonna score too :D

Ditto. The first scene which showed us Bob meeting Darryl and Glenn was great.
Another strong episode in my opinion - this whole half of the season is dedicated to developing the characters a bit, so those who keep expecting some epic edge of your seat action packed episode, are going to continue being disappointed.

Yeah, I'm already in game of thrones major character death mode, when i saw the start with Bob on his own and looking depressed and getting drunk, i thought Maggie and the other one were either after ditching him for some reason, he'd been bitten or they were dead! hehe, only when i seen Glenn and Daryll come up and ask the Rick Questions did it put it together :)

Have the scriptwriters just forgotten Beth is meant to be 17? I know Emily Kinney is 28, but considering last season they made a subplot of a prison inmate making lecherous advances on her, it's a bit rich that it's suddenly ok. Personally I found all those longing glances at the kitchen table a little creepy tbh, no matter how dreamy Daryl's meant to be. Beth's a teenager people, let's try to remember that :)

Anyway, otherwise I enjoyed that episode, and similar to last week it shed some light on hitherto thin characters: Bob and Sasha came out pretty well in that story, particularly Bob who now shoots up the list of favoured members of the cast; he seemed both hopeful yet capable and had a good attitude that made a refreshing change to the morbid misery-guts that pervade the cast. In fact he came across quite strong in terms of potential leadership. His little attempt at romance was nice too because it seemed born out of 'sure you never know' optimism rather than the kind of stars-aligning bullsh*t hollywood likes. Sasha was uninterested? Ah sure, no worries, soldier on. I like Bob :D

I see peoples criticisms of the last two episodes but honestly, the show needs some solidity put onto the characters; don't forget, it's not that long ago we had the likes of T-Dog as one of the main cast; a character who had almost no personality, no lines, no backstory, yet conspired to be a headline member of the group. It seems the writers are realising they can't just have a queue of walker chow for the sake of it (even if that's precisely what they did with the refugees from Woodbury) and I for one am glad to see these episodes take the time to get to know the likes of Beth, Bob & Sasha. It's sorely needed.

Some awful writing in that episode. Daryl opening the door wide open the 2nd time especially. Bob on a mission to find Maggie so she's not alone and in doing so leaves Sasha alone.... yep, makes perfect sense. Oh, and windows are always falling out of buildings on me.

Most episodes are really just filler, with just a few minutes in each offering a glimmer of hope that the next one is going to brilliant, in this case Daryl searching for Beth and coming across the bow and arrow bandits.

Was better as it was fast moving.

Didn't buy daryl just opening the door to the clearly hurt & whimpering dog, you could see all the walkers through the gaps in the blind!

Thought that was a great episode. And I haven't enjoyed much of this part of the season so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭Soft Falling Rain

I'm on board with the character development, but there's something not quite right with the writing. Maggie's character seemed to flip flop within the space of 20 minutes from unhinged (ditching Bob, Sasha and the note smearing using zombie guts) to sane again.

Then there's Sasha. I understand how much she wanted to do her own thing out of fear or whatever, but I found her initial decision to set up shop in some deserted building AND ON HER OWN absolutely bizarre. Bob's willingness to leave her on her own in favour of chasing Maggie and getting to Terminus, even though he was clearly closer to Sasha, was equally just as bizarre to me.

I think the 2nd half of the season has been fine with me for the most part, probably because I only started watching it back to back yesterday. I can understand how someone would be frustrated watching these episodes from week to week. But this episode just seemed particularly half assed to me.

Better than last week but Bob leaving pretty Sasha on her own after kissing her to go after Maggie didn't make sense. Or Maggie lying down on the ground with walkers around her. Or Darryl running away from walkers in a huge house to an enclosed basement. Also Darryl's strange poncho/shawl ensemble at the start.
I liked the one eyed dog though, hope he makes a reappearance.

I'm all for character development but I'm just getting bored. I don't need constant action, but I also can't be doing with these constant cliff hangers at the end of every episode. Its frustrating. Its fairly obvious this season will end with them all reaching terminus.
Which means the whole season will have been about their journey to Terminus, but when they finally get there we will have another x amount of months to wait before we get to actually see what its all about.

Ugh, I'm just fed up of cliff hangers.

Im going to try and wait until the last three episodes have aired so I can watch them in a row, its too disappointing watching them one at a time IMO.

Im all for slow paced character development, Im not a person that looks for all out action all of the time but the problem for me is that im just not interested in a lot of the characters due to their poor development.

I liked these new characters though, they seem realistic to me and not like the cartoonish entrance of Abraham and his group.

Re. Bobs decision to leave Sasha, I saw it as the other way round tbh; it was Sasha abandoning "the group" and essentially giving up, figuring there was no hope in continuing what she saw as a fools errand. Given the show has continuously punished those who halted their journeys to make roots and stay in one place, it seemed clear to me Sashas choice of an empty attic was to embrace defeat and the inevitable. Bob followed Maggie because down that path lay hope and the possibility of a new community. I think it made perfect sense in fairness: Bob was choosing life, Sasha choosing to survive and hold out.

Was looking for it... thanks :) Super song.

Much better episode this week. Fleshing out bob's story was long overdue. Also starting to like the characters that a couple of episodes ago I had zero interest in.

It's an 8/10 for me this week.

depends on if that car she was abducted in had Marty McFly driving it and if it was a DeLorean

These last few episodes have really dragged. They could have done this character development faster. I am getting sick to death of the sight of train tracks. I just hope that all the money they saved by having so little action in these recent episodes, means that they have been saving up the budget for a couple of big action scenes in the last few episodes.

How is it that with all their runs from the prison when looking for food, they never saw these signs for Terminus before?

I liked the episode. Now to see where everyone is from. The guys Daryl met. The ones who kidnapped Beth. Which of them are from Terminus?

Is Rick's group on their way to Terminus as well? Can't remember

Yep, I voted 6 for this ep but I can't figure out if I'm being harsh or not :pac:

I think as a standalone episode it was decent enough, not great by any means but good. In the context of this season though and following the previous 2/3 episodes - getting really bored of how long and drawn out this trip to the terminus is becoming. The character development along the way is good, but surely it could be done quicker?

Going by the preview of next week it looks like we're back to Tyreese/Carol group and and some more filler before the inevitable. Great.

I think they got fed up waiting for the ice cream van to serve ice cream and lay down for a rest.

It was'nt a church it was a funeral home, obviously a family run business where the family live on the premises, fairly common in the states.
I was a bit disappointed the owner did'nt show up....or maybe he did...... zombified:D

Id expect that the guys Darryl has met will have some info on terminus. Also there must have been someone else in that car, judging by the way beths bag was dropped on the ground id say she was grabbed and taken.

I enjoyed the episode overall. Gave it a 7. Would have been a 5 without the one eyed dog and the cool song though.

The car that took Beth, it had a Cross painted on the back of it didn't it? If I had to guess, I think it's the ***COMIC BOOK SPOILERS***
    Saviors

I'd also guess that Daryl's new group are ***COMIC BOOK SPOILERS***
    the cannibal group

My theory: Daryl's new friends run - or are involved with - Terminus. They seemed to be very well equipped and pretty savvy, and as I said in a previous episode thread my immediate thoughts on this sanctuary were borne from 28 Days Later, where sanctuary in that was a honey-trap. Why scout for supplies when you can have the supplies come to you? Woodbury was sort of like that, but at least the Governor was trying to recreate civlisation: Terminus might be the natural / horrible evolution of that

Did anyone else get the idea that the funeral home was a set up? It just didnt sit right with hubby and myself. The place was incredibly clean and tidy - therefore you would think someone has lived/used it very recently. Stock pile of food etc. although the place didnt actually look used ( dirty dishes, weapons about in case of emergency etc) Seemed to us like a trap to get people to stay a while (clean and safe looking, and food)

Then the dog, somehow it knows they are in there, and to use the front door ( although could be coincidence)

Then all of a sudden there are 20 walkers at the door and darryl doesnt look as he assumes its the dog. Seems like an awful lot of walkers to make it to the front door without accumulating slowly and the noise thing making noise and them being able to manage the situation. Walkers didnt come to the kitchen window where they were making noise/talking. weird.

Then Beth runs out into the night to escape, and conveniently there is a car there with a cross on it (connected to funeral home? are they denominational in the states?) to kidnap her. seemed like a trap to us!

I actually didnt really like the episode very much because I hate bob so I gave it a 4 ( i think?). The only scenes I liked were with darryl and beth. Sasha giving up was annoying. Maggie abandoning them even though theyd agreed to stick together was annoying.

Also how stupid was it for darryl to go into the basement, fair enough if you didnt know what was down there but he knew it was a dead end ffs! always go up eejits!

    /rant over

    Seven groups in play now

    (1)
Tyresse group where the first to head there(terminus) on Day 2 after battle

    (2)
Ricks group followed next , on day three

    (3)
Followed by Maggie group probably the next day after that

    (4)
    Followed by Glenn groups now

    (5)
Daryl's new "bandit" group are also on the railway tracks and maybe tracking Rick in revenge... maybe .. or heading for Terminus connected or not
I have a theory that this group may not be all bad as they look

    (6)
Beth is god knows where maybe Taken to Terminus

    (7) Terminus
Bear in mind Maggie noted on Map how many different tracks led to it
so maybe they all or some on different railways lines ...maybe
Terminus looks like Macon which is 100-150 miles away
according to people who have studied the map.
Sasha said its a long way to it.
I think Terminus is neither a good place or a trap I think it will be
a false dawn somehow or a hoax (1958)
(like the signal in film on the beach 1958)
or it will have been overrun/abandoned by the time they get there and will merely serve as a meeting place for the groups.

    8/10
    v Good episode

    Marks taken away
For Maggie leaving in the night on her todd, WTF
Why is Maggie only looking for Glenn and not her sister?
and Daryl not checking whose outside the door, Stray dogs or not

That scene where Daryl heard a dog but not a dozen walkers RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR was just another example of how utterly stupid this show can be at times,

    maybe ... I don't think so
Rick spent two nights in house that we saw , where as Darly and Beth spend 3 nights together at least
Although one of guys in Pic has an UZI which is the weapon(rare weapon) Rick took off guy he killed but that guy does not look like him i think

Ok gave this a six for the same reason, maggie going awol, Daryl not checking behind doors and sash giving up seems crappy. Beth suddenly going missing, Daryl will not leave that slip even if hes now caught up with these new guys. I think this is going to lead them to terminus oh god I hope it isn't going to be like the Woodbury! I think Daryl and the new guys are well met but Daryl is wise enough not to get caught out however we do know that Rick did not approve their presence.
