    Betcha it's Game.
    Edit : Yup, it is

Bizarrely, doesn't come with the Wheel, where the standard version does... The wheel costs £9.99 and the Collectors edition is £20 more expensive than the regular version, so net cost of the Blue Shell trophy is £30.

No Wheel, and £10 more, that makes the TShirt and key-ring effectively £20

Game are still winning @ £39.99 unless you really don't want that wheel, then Amazon beat them by 15p plus free delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭Len_007

Interesting. Not mad on the wheel, never used it on the Wii.

I must have that shell. The Shelf of Pre-Order Figurines needs a new friend.

Damn you. I wasn't going to bother with Mario Kart 8 on release date. But I must have that shell, key ring and tshirt.

WELCOME BACK PEACH...... we thought you had been captured by bowser....

Maybe took off to have another Bowser Jr.?

Find it strange them calling it "Spiny shell" since we all know it as the Blue Shell, or as it's known to anyone in first place when they hear it coming, "Ah F**k!"

Looks to be big enough as well since on the stand it's about half the size of the game box.

Will be up in Game in Newry on Saturday so I will preorder a couple of these I think, when I was up there three weeks ago they had a Luigi 3DS XL for £179.99, too pricey for me at that time but it sure did look purty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 398 ✭✭LandonRicketts

Does anyone know if you preorder off the nintendo uk store do they charge you immediately or do they wait until the game ships?

I dont know where to get this. I want that blue shell bad. Any places in Ireland with preorders available? The 59.99 pounds is a bit pricy put into 72 euros.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,258 ✭✭✭✭DARK-KNIGHT

Amazon are 60 pounds for this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00E4LGGIQ/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?ref_=pe_207501_44962361

Ill pass on the blue shell and get the standard

WTF, Smyths are stocking the Blue Shell edition, I did not see that coming...

Bit pricey mind you but still, get in.

Actually smyths are the cheapest for this so far even though they dont usually do special editions. Or you could always buy from the nintendo official store for an extra 12 € but get a shirt and keyring.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,285 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

Just noticed there is no option to get a text alert on the Smyths site, they're notorious for failing to stock promised Nintendo exclusives, here's looking at you Fire Emblem 3DS XL, best to bombard the facebook page with enquires on this asap, as the gerbils in store most likely wont have a clue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,258 ✭✭✭✭DARK-KNIGHT

yeah ill pay 60 in smyths thank you......

Wonder if they'll apply the 10% loyalty card discount.

The card is gone, about 16 months now I think.

Get in about this asap as I have already stated, if enough of us do they will get it in stock.

The T-shirt and keyring are with all editions from the nintendo store, but the Blue Shell is only with the limited edition..
I thought the T-shirt and keyring were only with the limited edition.

You also get to choose the keyring, from
Red Shell, Golden Dash Mushroom and Bullet Bill

    Another version includes a wheel.
£39.99GBP with Wheel from Game or £29.99 with Mario & Luigi Console

Holy moly that looks gorgeous! The spray from the wheels when going through the puddles, and the fizzing sparks while powersliding!

    So much want!

Not watching those other videos though, don't want to see the other tracks yet!

It's since been confirmed to be Mario Kart news via IGN on the Neogaf forum:

“Sorry about that everyone. It’s just Mario Kart 8 you guys. Hype should still be justified. That is all.”

    Still pretty interesting.

I popped into Smyths this evening, to pre-order Mario Kart. To do so, the guy behind the counter pulled up their website and put my number into the text alerts... :-\

I wanted to do the same..

For shame. I couldn't help myself. I watched a few seconds of one of them.

Have to say I'm really looking forward to this release.

Not long now either, it'll fly around.

That's actually the N64 Rainbow Road in the vid - don't think they'll be putting images of the new one out before release.

Has anyone here ever pre ordered games from Smyths' online store? I've bought games in store but never online so I'm a bit unsure. When do they actually update the listing so that you can add the item to your basket? I want to receive the limited edition Mario Kart 8 bundle on its release day very badly and I'm unsure if they're able to ship the order so that I get it in time i.e. on May 30th.
I know that Gamestop ship your order so that you have it a day before its release date if you select express shipping at the checkout but I'm not sure about Smyths.

There's no general Mario Kart thread is there?

Also, there's an offer on the eShop at the moment; buy Super Mario Kart and get €8 off Mario Kart 8

Any idea what Ninty are going to charge for Mariokart 8 though? Presumably it's around 44.99 but you just don't know, the eShop prices are crazy.

Don't forget that Wii -> Wii U VC Upgrade purchases count (confirmed in the small print on the eShop ad), so if you have the points (800 or so I think) for MarioKart on the vWii, you can get the upgrade for €1.50 I think.

It's almost always the retailer that decides the final price of the game but they can't go below a certain price limit. Gamestop usually charge extra because...well.. it's Gamestop. Smyths is usually the better alternative as most of their games tend to be €5 - €10 cheaper than Gametop.
Buying MK8 on the eshop is a no go for me because I must have a physical copy of the game. Physical will always be better than digital in my honest opinion especially with regards to Ninty and their lack of a proper account system so if something was to happen to your console/handheld every digital purchase is tied to that system and there is no way of getting them back, or the saves.
The fact that there's a limited edition blue shell figure bundle with the game strengthens my decision to go physical. It's just deciding who to buy it from that I get it before or on release is the problem. Usually with Gamestop's online store if you choose express shipping at the checkout for an extra €5 you get the game a day before release which i really tempting but I'd have to pay the asking price for the item on top of that which isn't always that nice...

Just looking at the videos of this.It looks absolutely amazing.

If this doesn't sell Wii U`s nothing is going to sell Wii U`s

It'll sell a few alright but not what people think is enough to ''save'' the system.

Yup. Throw Smash Brothers in there for the same result. The Wii U will be a distinct No 3 this time around, it just remains to be seen how distant.

Can' wait to see where Nintendo go with their next console. Major changes need to happen within the company. Even the marketing for Smash Brothers seems mental (releasing 3DS version months ahead of Wii U).

Interestingly Gamestop have the regular and collectors version at the same, terrible price (€70)

Just saw on HUKD, ShopTo have updated their pre-order (£39.85) to include a t-shirt, it's got a spiked Blue Shell on it with the slogan "Second is best" on it.

They have it listed for 1p here
    http://www.shopto.net/video-games/wiiu/TSHIRTMK8-mario-kart-8-exclusive-t-shirt
Good for getting a closer-up shot of the Tshirt but I already tried, it's not for sale :(

i cant wait for mario kart 8 going be the best game on wiiu ever so far when it comes out

im still getting limited edition or standard edition

smyths maybe best answer it s €10 cheaper then gamestop, but smyths dont have loyalty cards, i try using my smyths card on game there couple of months ago and they said stop using them few months ago. and dont accept the smyths cards anymore, what the point having smyths cards you cant get discounts with the smyths cards anymore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Smyths is the best price in the universe at the moment for the limited edition. a good tenner cheaper than even the online prices. Regular edition price sucks though. Also, there's no additional free stuff (yet - the bonuses keep popping up)

I hadn't seen it on it's own before, although it may have been mentioned in this thread already.

The Mario Kart 8 Racing Wheel (Pre-Order) is available on amazon for £9.99

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,762 ✭✭✭smokingman

Think I've decided to download the digital version from the eshop just so I can always access it without changing disk; yes, I'm a very lazy man....

It depends on which version of Mario Kart 8 you get.

And the new wheel is slightly different looks wise, but functionally it'll be no different.
