Castration would probably be equally suitable.

When they say gouged out do they mean surgically removed or something more brutal?

If true then Im done with Iran... not that I ever had anything to do with the place.

But seriously ... ok execute the fvcker by all means, but don't frickin cave dive down to his level.

On the one hand, it's fcuking mental.
On the other hand, throwing acid over some poor girl's face is also fcuking mental and I don't feel sorry for him

The man has destroyed a girls life and some people think its a bit harsh that the way he is getting punished. Most people sentenced to death in Iran is for drug trafficking which is usually heroin from Afghanistan. Which I personally think its a fair punishment considering they are probably trying to stop drugs destroying their nation. Thousands of people in Ireland have lost their lives to heroin, while families have been destroyed.

Our revolving door prison system isnt in anyway effective. Maybe Iran gets results with their harsh punishments.

I don't see anything wrong with...he'll not throw acid at anyone again

*once he is 100% guilty of course

That's what I was wondering too.

Hard to feel sorry for him though tbh, since his crime was throwing acid at a girl.

I don't agree with a state having the power to do that, no.

That is not the same as thinking he doesn't deserve to be punished though, or that what he did wasn't barbaric.

have to say , tis barbaric , what he done to her ,and what they are going to do to him.

Unbelievably so. The way some people go on about how "dangerous" and "repressive" Ireland is, is nothing short of hilarious at times.

what the hell do people be thinking?
"Right, after I finish me cornflakes, I'm going to wander round town, pick up a bit a makings of a dinner and oh yes..lob someone with acid"
Something seriously wrong with some people.

I'm against the death penalty and cruel and unusual punishment but I just can't find it within me to feel any pity for slime like that.

I agree. I was thinking about that the past few days, how a lot of people talk about our country being a kip and going downhill in crime, but compared to other countries and the type of horrific war and crime that goes on (Syria torture victims, Nigeria school attack) we should consider ourselves lucky that we live here.

This happened before and the punishment was having acid poured onto his eyeballs and the woman that was attacked got to be the executioner. It was cancelled though and she was disappointed. I think this happened back in 2011, just shows the pain the acid caused when they look forward to such drastic revenge

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,533 ✭✭✭Donkey Oaty

Before you all get too enthusiastic about the Iranian justice system, bear in mind that the victim could have bought his way out of any punishment if the victim agreed (in this case she wanted two million Euro, apparently).

An eye for an eye? One law for the rich, more like it...

I know it's wrong but imagine if that woman was your sister or niece?

I guess that's why we don't leave retributive justice to individuals.

    Acid in face: bad.

    Gouging eyes out: good.

    Hmm.

Guy is a c©nt but I'm not about to laud state sanctioned barbarism that could just as soon be used against others.

    totally true

I saw a photo of a young Syrian guy , after digging up his 2 year old sister from the rubble of their house , he finds her , alive and un harmed , and in the photo you can SEE how hard they are hugging each other , let alone the look on the guys face , heart breaking.

and i looked down and saw my healthy , happy kids playing on the floor , and thanked jebus i was born where i was , and they were also born here

im sure there are possi 90% of the worlds population worse off than me in a bug way - we all won the location lotto being born here

Yeh I don't feel sorry for him either, but I think you can still be disgusted at this punishment while not having sympathy for him. It's not about feeling sorry for him, it's about condemning such a practice at official level.

does anyone think the sentence will make other people less likely to commit the same crime?

With a bit of luck they think "Acid throwing"...."repercussions!" and decide to carry on about their normal non acid throwing ways.

you'd hope so...it would be pointless otherwise

that being said there surly cant be that acid throwing scumbags out there

the fact that they even think about acid throwing in the first place would be enough of a worry

I'd like to be sympathetic towards him but I just can't muster it up.

Sure, isn't the whole acid throwing, eye gouging just a part of their culture.. sure let them on with the whole thing

The only downside to any of it is that it's the state that sanctioning it.. the flawless and ever-knowing state of fcuking Iran. It'd be less troublesome if it was just some lunatic taking personal revenge.

Anger I get, but imagine a scenario in the West; where your legal system could; upon mature reflection, deem having your eyes gouged out to be a suitable punishment.

Spartacus Vengeance is on Sky Atlantic at the moment.

Great **** material for some of the gory punishment porn types. :)

acid throwing seems to be a crime thats getting more media coverage in the last few years. its an obscene cruel mad unthinkable thing to do. also seems to be done for relatively small slights. theres been a few cases in england. not here thankfully and hopefully never here. lets be honest its barbaric.

small edit...i dont think we have a punishment strong enough over here to cover this type of crime. a life sentence in a cushy prison, out after possibly 10 years or less? not justice.

    Good enough for the ****er.

Throwing acid in a girls face seems to be the done thing in some places, if she besmirched your honour or some stupid **** like that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 974 ✭✭✭realweirdo

To be honest most places outside the west are kips where things like this are common place. And yet the west gets the worst rap, usually from people in the west who have lived sheltered lives and never experienced how the other half lives.

on a scale of horror , he is lucky he did not do it in Texas , they would just execute him , on the other side of the scale , the Norwegian mass murder was moaning about his treatment becasue he only had a old play station.

Nope, throwing acid in someone's face is not a capital punishment crime in the state of Texas unless it results in the person's death.

20 years in prison would be a good chunk of his life gone to reflect on his actions, behaving like medieval barbarians isn't the way to go.

And then he gets out to live his life as he pleases, after ruining someone else's, permanently.
