Hi, I am currently stuck in a rut. I used to be very sporty training up to six nights a week but due to injury that has stopped and as a result I have gained over a stone in weight. As of now I'm 10st 4lbs. I'd really like to get down to 9st 4lbs as I always felt that was MY perfect weight for 5ft4". I am definitely an emotional eater 100%. If something good happens I eat and vice versa. What should I do? I really need to motivate myself in some way but money is quite tight so joining groups far away is hard. There are none close to me.
I know I'm eating bad and I know what I should eat but yet I don't know how to start. Does anyone know of a support blog or something where I could put up my daily achievement of the day. Something like that where I know I have to tell people what I did that day would be a start.
Just looking for advice here because everyone seems to have gotten started. I'm new to this so please don't be mean :-)

For starters try and write down everything you eat during the day. You said you're an emotional eater, this means that you usually know when you're about to eat junk and persist anyway. I realize that it's difficult but you will have to exert some form of willpower if you're to overcome this. But anyway, first thing's first, write everything down. When it's all on paper you'll realize what should/shouldn't be there and you'll be a lot more conscious of eating in future. You could even post it up here if you're not sure and I'm sure someone could help you out.

    Good luck.

The one where you tried to find people the same weight as you but who eat too much and weigh too much?

    Hardly a fitness blog.

Whats does a typical day of eating look like for you?

    I start off ok.
Breakfast: 30g porridge made with water and dash of low fat milk.
Lunch: 2slices white bread with one scrambled egg and ketchup or tuna and peppers
Dinner: mixed veg like broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, chicken fillet or pork chops, 3 table spoons of beans and bit of gravy on veg
Supper: tuna with salad or egg salad or ham salad.
My problem is snacking on junk food at nights and some nights I may have breaded chicken steaks and croquets or potato slices(I know they are very bad) instead of usual dinner..if I did that I wouldn't usually have had the salad for supper it would have been a late dinner and that's why I think I would Go mad on the croquets and breaded chicken.
I just need to find some way to avoid the bad stuff :) thanks a lot:-)

Maybe try and have a more solid breakfast, its looks very unsatisfying and isn't particularly healthy. Try adding in fruit to your breakfast or maybe an egg. Try a cheese and ham omelette and a fruit smoothie maybe. Protein in the morning will help keep you fuller for longer. Oh and ditch the low fat milk, it has no benefits. Whole milk is healthier.

Your lunch could be more substantial also. Maybe try a decent size chicken salad? avocados? lots of veg?

Dinner looks good. If you have more filling foods through out the day you can seriously reduce your junk food cravings in the evening, believe me, have been there.

Its possible your filling up on food that isnt particularly satisfying and then end up snacking more, therefore overeating... In addition to lack of exercising from the injury. Check your calories now and again to make sure your not overeating and consume more filling foods.

    Lunch: 2slices white bread

White bread contains hardly any nutrients and just makes you feel bloated. You should replace it with whole wheat bread.
