Size of Protein Boxes

Strange request, but I'm hoping to put in an order to Bulk Powders for 5kg of protein, 1kg of creatine, 1kg of peanut butter and a 600ml shaker. Since I don't know if I'll be available to receive delivery, I'm hoping to get it delivered to Parcel Motel, but I'm afraid it'll be more than the maximum dimensions of 41 X 38 X 64 cm.

Has anyone any experience of what kind of size boxes these deliveries come in?

You should be alright. The whey is delivered in a bag and is usually packed very efficiently into a small box. Can't see the other stuff making it massive.

    Usual size is 18 x 12 x 12

Wouldn't risk it. Buy off the Irish site.

I am buying off the irish site, it still has to get delivered somewhere though...is there some other option?

Your house or place of work? When the courier calls, tell them to drop it at a local shop and have them told.

You can collect it for free at the nearest nightline depot if it doesn't fit in the parcel motel

Any boxes I get from Bulkpowders are too big for ParcelMotel. Like posted earlier, get the courier to drop off in a local shop if possible. Otherwise email Bulkpowders and ask them for the dimensions but the boxes I get are way too big to fit in the slots.

You can collect it all right, but it's not free.

Pricing for oversize items is based on dimensional weight of the parcel. The formula is "length x width x height (cm) / 3000". So a box that's 50x50x50cm is 41.6KG in dimensional weight, even if it's mostly empty.

For parcels under 35KG dimensional weight it's €7 to pick up from Parcel Motel. For boxes over that size an extra €7 per 10KG (or part thereof) over.

It's better to get it from the .IE site and have it delivered to work, a friend, a family member's place of work etc.

There may be big savings by getting stuff via parcel motel, since you should be charged the UK VAT rates.

Usually with DVDs etc the difference is only 20% vs 23%, but with some supplements/foods it could be 0% vs 23%.

you still might get places not charging or charging varying amounts, I think bulkpowders are charging it. I see chainreactioncycles in the North are selling whey and the price increases when you select the delivery country as UK rather than Ireland. This could be for some other reason.

I was saying shops here should simply label whey powder as food and it would be zero vat. I use mine in cooking all the time now as an egg replacement.

Seems in the UK if they simply label it as a dieting product it is zero

Fantastic news since the introduction of VAT on all Supplements a grey area has now been lifted. You will no longer be charged VAT on diet supplements – So we have been able to pass this on to our customers saving them 20%!
