They don't say that in any other country (that I'm aware of)

    Irish sayings. What's your favourite?

    "I will, yeah"

Also, we Irish really know how to use the word "hole":

"Stick it up in your hole"
    "I will in me hole"
"I'll give you a boot in the hole"

    Great stuff.

I don't know if this is widespread or niche - two of my friends can relate, but did anyone's mother say "They're a lovely shoe" in relation to a pair of shoes in a shoe-shop when you were buying school shoes?

Yep - patent leather - 'ye can see yer face in them.'

And in your innocent distaste for said footwear you might have got...
    A few more...
    'I'll swing for ye...:
    'I'll dance on ye'
    'Don't back answer'

There was a nun in my school who urged us not to wear patent shoes and a short skirt when dancing with a boy at the dishco: as all he had to do was look in the reflection of the shoes for ultimate impurity.

Should have drawn teeth on the tongue of the shoe, that would have been an interesting experience for the lad.

Well, unless the shoes were sprinkled with dandruff, which would mean that the girl was not .... oh, forget it

    Hey, where's my coat?

Funny that, cos my youngest lad is called Boy-da-kid by almost everyone. I reckon it's a good nick-name. I'd never heard it before I copped his mates calling him it.

On another forum, there was a discussion about some aspect of football. It got heated, and one poster ended a particularly blunt and aggressive post with the words "so bite me sac."

Haven't laughed as much as that in a long time.

There's no flies on you, and if there are they're paying rent.

Meaning you are as tight as a ducks arse.

    Meaning you are mean.
