Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival
We will release our first batch of artists next Wednesday. There will be more announcements over the next few weeks. This batch covers a range of genres and includes one act we just had to bring back from last year

Can see the act being brought back is The Minutes since they didnt get a chance to play last year due to high winds in the Vodafone Stage

DJ Yoda with another 4hr set is the rumour but yeah I reckon the Minutes also as they were pretty popular a couple years ago.

Be interesting to hear what headliners they get. They very much dont follow a trend. Which is a good thing really as not point it being a clone of every other festival.

The Dandy Warhols!! Mon dieu, I wet myself with excitement! They are so uber-cool, it is unreal! Saw them twice before - in Auckland in 2004 & in Marlay Park, supporting, I think, Morrissey!
    I'm in!

DJ YODA returns, highlight of my 2013!

Anybody have any tips on accommodation for the festival? Missus doesn't fancy camping and I don't fancy paying through the nose for a hotel.

We used to rent a house down there usually between 6 of us. Obviously you'd need more than two to keep the costs down. Well worth it, beats living like a hobo for the weekend.

Stayed here twice before for the festival, cheap enough and 5 minutes walk from the festival site

Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival
Ok guys full lineup will be out this Wednesday so stay tuned. May even give away a ticket or 2 too celebrate!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 gary_is_hip

Line up is actually quite good this year, Dandy Warhols, Ella Eyre, Hudson Taylor are all reasonably well known acts, makes it actually worth paying the 100 euro for a ticket.

Could Franz Ferdinand be added? Announcement due tomorrow and they just played dublin last night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 jossys_giants

Franz Ferdinand would be a clinker of an addition. (thought the final annoucement was Wed?) Hotel sorted, always a great time at the Sea Sessions

Hopefully the weather is good this year

I looked at their schedule and they are playing Paris Fri/Sat that weekend but have a gap of a week before the next show. Hmmmm probably unlikely but not impossible.

Kelis is a great headliner. Some great songs in her back catalogue.

Looks like The Strypes have a headline slot?

Ah was hoping Flight Factories would do FF or maybe EP :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 gary_is_hip

I'm so delighted to see Kelis and Flight Facilities announced, makes it well worth the money now along with Ella Eyre and Dandy Warhols. Definitely their strongest line up ever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 jossys_giants

very unwhelmed to be honest with the kelis and the strypes as the 2 remaining headliners. The strypes are a decent enough band but not headliner material and kelis, meh!
plenty of good dj's and bands though in the lineup

looking forward to it, always a brilliant weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,510 ✭✭✭BadTurtle

Kelis is a bigger act than they had any right to expect.

What's the camping situation like? I don't particularly need any luxury, but really drunk kids getting aggressive and wrecking the place I could do without in the middle of the night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,386 ✭✭✭RebelButtMunch

Le bump. Anyone know how civilised this festival is? Thanks.

It gets sacked by barbarians on a nightly basis

Is that on a website somewhere? seasessions.com hasn't updated their blog in ages.

I got it from the Sea Sessions facebook page

Shame it's the other side of the country, that's a magic lineup.

It's a pretty small campsite! Only ever been last year and with the horrible weather I think most decided to stay in pubs until bedtime so not much night activity. There are free showers (in portacabins) too.
I have family near Bundoran who have offered me a place to crash but despite the horrible weather I had good fun in the campsite so definitely camping again.
It's located at the back of a pub with a shop (with deli) across the road. All really handy!

Thanks for the info. My mate has a big mpv so we are going to take out the back two rows of seats and sleep in the back. I read the local gaa club is providing a parking place but it seems pricy. We might look for somewhere handy to park and kip for the nights.

Sorry if this is a bit of a novice question but on each day what time does the music kick off. Is there a time table so I can be there for the bands I like (and off having a drink when the bands I don't like are on). Also is there more than one stage?
    Thanks.

There is 3 stages if I remember correctly. The stage breakdown and times wont be release until closer to the festival but if you google the stagetimes for the last few years you'll get an idea of start times and the likes.

Timetable will be released a few weeks before festival. From what I can remember from last year music started at about 5 on the Friday, 4 Sat and Sun, ish.
3 stages I think. main tent, Vodafone tent and desperado beer tent (mostly DJ sets).
There's a sea sessions festival phone app but I dont think it' been updated yet!

Saturday looks really good except for the ****ing Strypes. Leftfield, even a DJ set, would have been a great finish to that day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭tigerballs

At Sea Sessions in previous years a DJ played after the headliner.
I expect Leftfield will be scheduled in the Main tent/stage after the Strypes.

    Hey, first timer question!

Does anyone know if the skate aspect of this festival is just exhibitions, or is there space for punters to skate around on? I would hate to arrive to find lots of nice tarmac/concrete and no gear!

park up in the car park around the back of the Holyrood Hotel facing down onto the road. Beach is close, as is a shop and chemist. Madden's Bridge bar is 2 mins away :-)

Not long to go now to the old Sea Sessions :-)

Will be in for the Friday / Saturday (the old bones couldnt take the 3 days).

Band wise, on Friday, I'm really looking forward to The Vincents and The Dandy Warhols. Sat, Funeral Suits, FF and the Minutes. Anyone recommend any bands worth checking out on the Fri / Sat.

Hopefully the weather is a bit better this year, as a few early beers on the beach would be nice. Anyways, might see ye's in Brennan's for a stout or 2

Keep 'er lit and pray to the sun gods

    (home sweet home)

What's the deal on cans? Is it allowed to bring your own beer into the venues?

    Thanks in advance.
