I regularly see people here mention making their own smoothies. I've always made mine with a hand blender but sometimes the smoothie would get a little warm from the blade rotation which I imagine isn't idea for maintaining nutritional content. I was wondering if any of you are using a blender you'd recommend for smoothie making.
The array of blenders seems to be dazzling. I'm looking for something that can handle ordinary enough stuff, just apples, oranges, beets and the like and that isn't too tough to clean. I can't afford a vitamix so I'm not looking for anything very expensive. If there's something cheap that can handle carrots etc bring it on too. :)
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Smoothie to go! Great for the price but I wouldn't think it would be able for carrots etc. It's a nice kit though.

+1 on the smoothie to go one above from amazon. Easy to clean, very secure cups\lids and copes well with frozen banana so a thumbs up from me

Have you tried adding some ice to the mix?

what difference will a slightly warm blender make to the nutrition content. at most it will raise the food 1 or 2 degrees above its current temperature.

just buy the most expensive blender or food processor you can afford. they are much of a muchness at this stage, look for one with the highest wattage and most convenient cleaning. youre as likely to get one in lidl just as good as anywhere else that will blend carrots as you would in house of fraiser.

unless you are purchasing petrified carrots. in which case, you should stop.

'smoothie to go' as posted above is brill, cant recommend it highly enough. you can get it in debenhams for around €30

with its two mugs that you blend in, it allows you to blend 2 shakes at once, so have one there and then (postworkout etc) and then another later on at work etc. really handy

Thanks very much everyone. I will try Smoothie to Go in that case.
