Why are the City Of Culture music events so elitist?

Just looking throught the upcoming City of Culture music events and the majority seem to be orchestral events focusing on classical music. I don't see too much in the way of contemporary bands or even traditional music being promoted. It just strikes me as a bunch of events set up to cater for a certain niche with scant…

I got tickets for that last show as well. Really looking forward to it. Does anybody know how ticket sales are going for it?
